The next Riddick movie comes out in September.
I saw this last night and thought it was great. I too thought Part 5 was just a little bit better but I still had a blast. And they finally tied the franchise back to Tokyo Drift, the ugly stepchild of these movies!

I saw it last night. A little too over-the-top actiony for me (there were a few scenes where I just stopped trying to follow what was happening), but I love so many features of this franchise as it's developed: -the diversity -the camaraderie of the "team" -how I suspect that they're deliberately embracing the HoYay (remember that?) -how the male characters are often goofy and sentimental, and the female characters are tough without it being their defining trait -how I can be good-naturedly rolling my eyes for most of the movie, then suddenly tear up when something sad happens I really think the evolution of this franchise, what it has become, is kind of fascinating. I'm a little sad that Vin Diesel is losing the hotness, though. He is not my type at all, but I've always found him so attractive (I think it's the voice and the knowing attitude). When is the next Riddick coming out?? :-) Thank you for writing out all of my thoughts for me, lol! I definitely preferred FF5 but folks walking away without band-aids in this one? Yeah, OK. And I had the same thought about Diesel! I kept thinking he should lift his head; he looked like he had a double chin on all his close-ups, it was distracting b/c I REMEMBER thinking he was cute at one point. During one completely unbelievable scene I was remembering that creepy moment in Pitch Black where he's all "Stay in the light...thought you were Billy Badass..." to Cole Hauser... ETA: Planes, trains, automobiles...and tanks. I think they could've ended the series here.

BUMP.
So how was it? Because I have several friends who have seen it, and cried. I work with a lot of Filipinos, and Paul Walker apparently did a lot of charity work and spent a lot of time there, so he was well loved in that community.
Looks like TNT is running a marathon this weekend too. This series could become like James Bond, ongoing through generations of movie goers, as long as there are hot cars and cool women.

Set to make an incredible amount of money this weekend, some estimates 150 million.

I saw it last night. The action scenes are balls to the walls insane. Just ignore the laws of physics and enjoy the ride. The final scene is very touching and emotional. You can find the final scene on Youtube. I'd never thought I'd get teary over an action movie but I did and so did most of the audience.

It was as fun and action packed as the rest. Still makes me so sad that Paul is gone. Fine ass man that he was.

I saw it, loved it. My only complaint was that is was long, very long; too long in my opinion.
The ending made me cry like a baby. I really hope they retire the franchise and don't proceed with additional movies. I think this movie is the perfect way to end the franchise. It just won't be the same without Paul Walker. And this was one was so over the top and so insane, that there is no way they could top it.
Besides, all of the other actors are really showing their age too. In particular, I thought Jordana Brewster looked awful.

Jordana isn't old at all but she is very thin, she needs to put on some weight. She certainly isn't the fresh faced girl from the original movie. I wonder if her role would be retired as well?

Her role has to be retired. She just stayed home anyway so it would not make sense to retire Brian to live the family life and have her all of a sudden all in action. My brother commented she must have had surgery, no she is just skinny as hell which makes her look rough.
Fine men all around really. Paul, Vin, Jason, and then the Rock. Nathalie was purtiful too.
