I agree that the singers this week were not as stong as last week's. I wonder if the producers put the best ones in the first half on purpose? Still loving this show.

But let's be real - great voices or not, the head-to-head coompetition is the only way to weed out the people who just don't look the part. Voices only get you so far. I am looking forward to the head-to-head competition next week. I love the staged boxing ring as it represents a so-called "fight to the death" aspects. Perhaps "sing for your life" may be more appropriate. |

I've been rewatching the auditions and wow, Taralynn's voice is incredible, I would dare to say the best in the competition. Even though she messed up the lines, when she hit those high notes she sounded exactly like Whitney to me. I like Frenchie, but she is the better singer IMHO. So for now I am all for Beverly, Tarralyn, Javier, Jared, Vicci, Tje, Rebecca or Dia FTW. But yeah, if Tarrlyn can't get her career of the ground it will be a crime. |

Tarralyn Ramsey is already a winner of another singing competition show. She won the Tommy Mottola produced Born To Diva which aired on VH1 and was signed to his label/management company and got to perform on VH1's Divas Live show. Her album came out and didn't sell enough to chart on the Billboard 200. I believe she got dropped after that failure and started releasing gospel albums. I guess she looking for another go at being a secular artist. Singing, I Wanna Love Your Forever (Jessica Simpson) and I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Whitney Houston) on Born To Diva. |

Well, the marketing department sucked for that album's launch because I don't remember hearing ANYTHING about her, or even about that show. That was back when VH1 was still treading the waters between being a legit music channel and integrating reality programming. I still think she has an amazing voice though and I would love to see her do well in the mainstream scene. But really, almost all of the ones left standing are great.
ETA: OMG! I am watching right now and I am RAGING with Blake's decision. WTF?!? Tyler was amazing and Blake was just okay. UGH!

I know we're really not supposed to live blog shows, but I was really surprised at how badly Taralynn performed. She was super sharp (heh, the same note they gave Frenchie in the run-up) and over sang the hell out of that song. Frenchie may not have the range, but she did great. Easy choice for sure. And redbeard guy just got hosed.  |

Yeah, Tarralyn killed her chances with that blatant oversinging. There's also that story leaking out about her family member attacking Christina when she didn't pick her. I am still pissed about Tyler not getting picked! WTF?!? And I am SO happy about Vicci, she is amazing. I like Casey too, she is soooo much better than Taylor Swift.

I am so glad Vicci made it. She is far and away my favorite of all the singers and I was so freaking nervous when Cee Lo was making his decision.

I really enjoyed the battle rounds. It was really interesting getting to see the coaches different perspectives on singing style etc. I agreed with all the decisions except for Blake's - that decision was surprising, although that kid is good too, I thought Tyler was superior. Vicci's "warrior" dance is so endearing. Hehe. Tarralyn kind of annoyed me this episode, she was a bit too arrogant and deserved to lose if she wasn't going to give it her all in rehearsals.
As an admitted Christina fan, I really enjoyed the little snippet of her singing Single Ladies. I thought her voice sounded great.

I'm glad Tarralyn's is gone. I remember her from the VH1 show and didn't care for her then either. What she needs to do ASAP is pull back her wig. It sits way too low on her forehead. Frenchie has attitude but it's focused and powerful. On a superficial note, she's frikkin' gorgeous.
