Awww... screw you guys! I cruised in here to read how awful this show was (since it looked pretty crappy from the previews) and I have to read this: Awesome, loved it, flawless. I LOVED Javier Colon, Taralyn Ramsey, Beverly McCallen (fierce!), Vicci Martinez, Frenchie And FRENCHIE! Sigh. So I watched it On Demand. LOVE her. Too bad she picked that Katy Perry song because it was certainly no Band of Gold, but can't wait to see her again. And the heavyset guy who sang the country song was great, too. It's just as good as everyone says though the cynic in me says we're going to wind up with a conventionally pretty winner - like the girl who complained that she was judged on her good looks too much. I know, what a hardship especially in the music business where goons like Katy Perry are apparently only judged on their talent.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show, I had no expectations of liking it, but I did! I think Xenia is my favorite, I really liked her conviction of changing the lyrics for Break Even from "Pray to a god I don't believe in" to "Pray to a god I DO believe in". At 16, to change the lyrics of a very popular song, especially to change it to something that could has the potential to be controversial, is very strong-minded and strong-willed of her. I wonder if she sings it like that in the Itunes version as well. I also liked Javier as well, but his version of Time After Time, reminded me too much of my favorite version which is Tuck&Patti. Javier's niche is definitely acoustic music, but I'm hoping he'll have it in him to be able to do more than that, even if it means he moves into Bruno Mars territory.

I caught this at the gym yesterday on E! (there was NOTHING on) and it was so good! I hate American Idol, but this show is so different. I love the blind auditions and I liked the fact that the judges wanted to help the singers, not just make fun of them. And these people could sing! I liked Adam and Christina, I think Cee-Lo is kind of funny (although I couldn't tell you a song he sings) and Blake was kind of bland. I need to watch the whole episode because I missed the first 20 minutes, but it seems like a show I'd keep up with.
And Carson Daly was kind of sweet!

I liked that the judges were having so much fun fighting for who they wanted. You could see that some of them only pressed their button when they felt the danger of losing a good prospect... It's like they were playing Texas Hold'Em with voices.

This show makes AI seem like a heard of bad singing turtles sloshing through the mud. I will definitely tune in to the Voice, since I pretty much stopped faithfully watching AI a year ago.
This makes me wonder about Simon's show, X Factor. He will really have to bring it, if he wants to make a big splash. A five million dollar top prize is start, but the money isn't going to me, so I don't know if I'll watch something with weak azz singers.

This week's auditions weren't as strong as last week's, but I was impressed by Dia, the girl who covered "Bubbly". I've YouTubed her previous work and she's good. I was also glad they brought bold rocker dude, I think he has potential. And that girl that sang "Stupid Girl" in the 2nd chance part with the guitar can outsing Taylor Swift any day. I think CeeLo and Adam's groups are the strongest, but Christina has Tarralyn, Beverly and Frenchie, who's voices are killer. It sucks that Tarralyn will be pitted against Frenchie and one of them has to go, they are both outstanding.

I think the only part about this show that is making me a little sad so far is the one to one competition where everything kind of depends on how you do against that one person you happen to be up against.

I know! I hate that! There are some really talented people on that show tbh, better than 95% of all the contestants that have been on Idol.

Yowza, I remember those two sisters (Tori & Taylor Thompson) being on the ill-fated American Juniors way back when! I couldn't stand them on that show and I'm carrying my hate to them on this show.

But let's be real - great voices or not, the head-to-head competition is the only way to weed out the people who just don't look the part. Voices only get you so far.
