The movie didn't spend a lot of time on it, but I think Lillian felt that she had to have a very fancy wedding because her fiance was from a well off family and he traveled in those circles. I remember her making a comment about how her father could not afford a lot of the wedding extravaganza that Helen was planning but it all happened anyway. My cousin married a guy from a wealthy family and she felt a lot of pressure to put on a big society wedding, and it resulted in a very small but very expensive wedding (that I didn't even get invited to! I got a beautiful calligraphied invitation to have cake and champagne after the sit down dinner at the gourmet restaurant. But I'm not bitter! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ). Her parents could afford it, but they didn't really live that kind of lifestyle. I know it was hard for her to plan the kind of wedding his family expected without draining her parents' retirement savings.

I finally got around to watching this. I really liked it, even though I had to close my eyes for the dress scene. Vomit is never funny. I loved Melissa McCarthy's character. Especially when she went to Annie's house with the nine(!) puppies and admits she may have overcommitted a little. I giggled about that line for hours.

Rewatching it now. My favorite part was the same as when I saw it in the theater: when Annie calls the flight attendant Stove instead of Steve.

When she says, "Help me, I'm poor," I LOLed. I don't know why that's so funny, but it is.

"Are you an appliance, STOVE?"
There are quite a few quotable quotes. "I'm glad he's single, 'cause I'm gonna climb that like a tree."

My favourite was when Megan was trying to snap Annie out of her pity fest. Megan starts wrestling/biting Annie and tells her "I am Life, biting you on the ass!"

"Fight, Annie! Fight for your crappy life!" I love that scene!

Don' t remember the line exactly, but when Melissa McCarthy tells Kristen that she may have over-committed with nine puppies and she feels more comfortable with six makes me giggle every time!

Oh man, I need to wander over to the unpopular movie opinions thread. It took me three days to watch this movie (I kept turning it off to go to bed... yeah. Not a good sign). I did not like this flick, and I was really wanting to like it. Ug. It just sort of hurt to watch. And I never even cracked a smile. So disappointed. I wanted to like this too. Bummer.

Universal is considering a sequel without Wiig or a script from her and Annie Mumulo.
