I watched it for the second time the other day and found it much more entertaining this time, probably because I didn't go in with such high expectations. It's not as funny as some have said, there are many really pitiful moments in there. But I think it's one that will become a classic. Isn't that what's happening with Friends with Kids?

Isn't that what's happening with Friends with Kids? Kinda sorta, though I don't know how intentional it was. Bridesmaids hadn't come out yet when it was filming.

I think at some other time in my life I wouldn't have liked it as much as I did/do. But the way things have been, I felt great watching a movie with a main character whose life is (even) more pathetic than mine. Except, she still got the cute guy in the end

I hated it too Hamatron and Sunny. I almost turned it off halfway through, but I kept hoping that it would get better (always my mistake.) It was really long, all over the place and mean. It felt like two different movies put together, and I absolutely hated one of them.
Reading through this thread has been interesting for me. I've seen comparisons to The Hangover and Muriel's Wedding. I absolutely adore Muriel's Wedding and laughed my ass off at The Hangover. I'm not sure if I even cracked a smile at this. I posted how much I disliked this on my FB page, and friends are coming out of the woodwork saying how much they hated it too, so we're not alone.
Glad that other people enjoyed it though. I'd like to see more female-centered movies in general, and this doing well is good for that.

I watched this again the other day and really enjoyed it, apart from the Chris O'Dowd scenes. Ugh, him and his creepy-ass, inappropriate baking supplies! They could have cut out the whole romantic subplot and had more from Jill Clayburgh/Matt Lucas/Rebel Wilson.
