I'm irrationally excited about this movie. It looks at least somewhat amusing, and it has Maya Rudolph. I normally don't watch wedding hijinks movies, but I've been kind of starved for good female movie characters lately, and this looks like it might be a fun watch, Apatow production notwithstanding. Well it was written by Kristen Wiig and another woman whose name escapes me, so I have high hopes that it might actually be a good movie for women.
I'm irrationally excited about it too. The cast looks awesome, and it looks like it'll make me feel better about my own not-so-good bridesmaid experience.

It also Melissa McCarthy who I think is a fantastic comedic actress. Her timing and dexterity are great. I've loved her since Gilmore Girls and watch Mike & Molly religiously just for her.

This looks hilarious and I can't wait to see it. I love Melissa McCarthy in the trailer suggesting "Female Fight Club" for the bachelorette party. "We grease up, surprise, beat the crap out of her."

The trailer and your review reminds me: my sisters and I have a joke about going to David's and farting in the wedding dresses. I forget how it even started--I think one of my sisters was being Eeyoreish about something and the other one suggested that as a fun thing to do. It was totally random, but like all pointless inside joke, it stuck and now our delicate euphemism for breaking wind is "trying on a wedding dress." So.... yeah. I think I might be seeing this soon.  |

Me, too! I laugh every time the commercial shows that scene where Kristen Wiig's character says, "you read my diary?" and the British woman says sarcastically, "I didn't know it was your diary. I thought it was a very sad, handwritten book".

I can't wait to see this on Sunday. Looks hilarious! I'm a big Rose Byrne fan. Love her line in the trailer when she first meets Kristen Wiig at a fancy party: "You're so cute. Did you just come from work?"  |

FWIW, it's now known that Industry Insiders/Studio Heads are going to use this movie's success (or lack thereof) to determine whether they should greenlight other female-driven comedies they have in the pipeline.
I'll be seeing it this weekend, for sure.

I'm leery of things made for women, but so many women are involved in the making of this, and I trust Maya Rudolf (she was the reason we took a chance on And Away We Go for family movie night) that I think I'll go see it.
