We rented it last night and were pleasantly surprised how engrossing it was. I thought it would be laughable, but it was a well-done story for the most part. Except the lab with such ridiculous quality control that human trials can start right after one ape is cured and experimental medicines and animals can routinely be taken home.
That poor guy who played the neighbor. What a thankless role! Get in multiple arguments where you scream "Get out of here!" and then your big scene is unwittingly spreading a pandemic!

I just assumed Franco told her the backstory at some point during those five years. I don't think it was necessary to show her telling him; they were living together so it would have come up. I don't think this needs to be spoilered. Animals weren't "routinely" taken home; Franco smuggled Caesar home and wasn't happy about doing it. What other animals were taken home?

One animal was taken home. I implied more were. Sorry 'bout that, it was not my intent.
I don't understand why Freida didn't object more once she knew. But hey, I wasn't watching for the romance anyway.

Agree on what everyone said. Caesar was the broken bruised heart of the story, and we are a really dumb arrogant species. Very good film.

Hubby rented this tonight and I thought there would be no way I'd stay awake since I've been up since about 4 am and I'm butt draggin' tired; however, I was totally engrossed in the film and LOVED baby Caesar! I do wish that they would have shown him learning that Lithgow's character had passed away, since it seems that their relationship was important to both of them. Anyhow, good movie!
