And why I despise John Lennon. On topic, I think Suri is Katie's mini-me. (Or not so mini, now she's 16. And, whoa, where did the time go?) Yeah, that’s not accurate to compare Lennon to Cruise. Cruise really doesn’t have any with Suri as far as we know, while there was contact (phone calls, visits, and letters) from John to Julian. Still not the best dad, but far from complete abandonment. John left his 4 year old son and (according to Julian) they barely spoke for 10 years and only saw each other a handful of times. John also said his younger son was a product of love but told Julian: Talk about cruel. IMO, John Lennon was a shit father. I hope Suri's doing well. It still amazes me Katie and her father managed to get Suri out of Scientology's hands. |

I didn’t say John was great, John did express regret for being a terrible father (in a letter in 1965) and said in 1980 that his life greatest regret was not being a better father to Julian. Tom’s probably not having a relationship with Suri, which is better for her and poorer for him for choosing his cult over his child. Martin Holmes was a divorce attorney, so he knew how to negotiate his daughter and granddaughter out of the madness. Good for him. |

She's still working, she has something coming out this year. I've only seen her in a very few things (small roles) since her Tom Cruise drama started ad honestly her presence ruins the movie for me. I guess it's the overexposure & speculation and known craziness of her real life, that she can't disappear into a role for me. I can't see her as anything other than "Katie Holmes" and it takes me out of the story. I don't have this problem with other actors even those I've seen in dozens of roles and interviews. |

Like some people upthread, I will always side-eye Katie for getting involved in the whole TomKat farce. I tend to think she just isn't very smart and was lucky to have her father to help her extract herself and Suri from Team Clam. Once Suri is eighteen, is Katie still obligated to keep quiet? I can't see her flapping her gums a la Leah Remni, but I imagine custody of Suri depends on Katie not saying anything. |
