Rereading that article was a trip. I was struck by how short it was, but it makes sense because Katie gave the same robotic answers over and over again, there wasn’t much to write about.
I’m still impressed that she got out the way she did, she was very lucky.

I’m still impressed that she got out the way she did, she was very lucky. Extremely lucky! Most people do not make it out alive or have their lives even remotely what they used to be. I feel that if she wasn't a celebrity and had a dad that's also a lawyer, we'd see a much different outcome for her. Being a celebrity required more attention to her and people would absolutely begin to wonder what happened to her or where she was. I often wonder if they had her drugged at times, like during that W magazine interview. It's quite incredible when you think about her life now vs. then.

I forgot how bizarre that interview and time period were.
I wonder what happened to her best friend, Jessica Rodrigues? 😂

I wonder what happened to her best friend, Jessica Rodrigues? 😂 Sadly, she might be locked up at Gold Base. That's usually where the handlers who didn't succeed with their charges end up.

I know I should feel bad about that. But she wasn't just a cult follower - she was someone who tried to force another person to stay in that cult. She monitored Kate's every waking moment. She was basically the cult's enforcer. and if that bit her in the butt - so be it.

Jessica Feshbach (maiden name) supposedly left Scientology after becoming a cancer survivor or surviving another life-threatening illness IIRC and is allegedly now a realtor in Texas.
After being Katie's "best friend" she was married to Tommy Davis (son of Anne Archer) for a decade. He's the one who was extremely infamous during the height of TomKat for being on camera screaming at the media, they're now divorced as of 2018.
They also allegedly "convinced" Leah Rimini to leave Scientology by attacking her and putting her on report for even daring to ask if Shelley Miscavige was ok or if she was locked in a basement in Gold Base. The fact that Davis attacked her for it probably means she is or is dead. It was that that was the final straw for Leah.
Jessica was one of the wealthy people in Scientology who could basically do what they wanted because her family donated millions. Tommy Davis is apparently still in but doesn't work for them anymore.

Why haven't the authorities been able to do a welfare check on Shelley Miscavige? Certainly someone has reported her as a missing person by now, right?
I am in the process of shopping for a new car. Last night I stopped by the local Honda dealership by myself to ask about one car and it turns out that a very lightly used (12,000 miles) car had just come in that was closer to what I really wanted. When they saw I was entertaining the idea, they put the full aggressive sales squeeze on me, messing around with the numbers, dialing up the pressure, and all of these other tactics to disorient me and wear me down into accepting what what a grossly inflated price. That's the only thing I could compare the Scientology experience to personally. I told the Honda people that I'd have to think about it and got out of there, and upon reflection my decision was HELL NO. But while I was there I was actually considering it because I really liked the car. So I can see why the Scientology leadership keep a handler with valued recruits, so they don't have time to themselves and for reflection and to listen to their gut.
I'm happy for Katie but happier for Suri.

Why haven't the authorities been able to do a welfare check on Shelley Miscavige? Certainly someone has reported her as a missing person by now, right? Leah Remini filed a missing persons report on Shelly in 2013. The LAPD quickly closed the case and said it was "unfounded". Per TMZ, the police spoke face to face with Shelly. (And I'm going to presume that Shelly also sufficiently convinced them that she wasn't being held captive.) I stopped by the local Honda dealership by myself to ask about one car and it turns out that a very lightly used (12,000 miles) car had just come in that was closer to what I really wanted. When they saw I was entertaining the idea, they put the full aggressive sales squeeze on me, messing around with the numbers, dialing up the pressure, and all of these other tactics to disorient me and wear me down into accepting what what a grossly inflated price. I told the Honda people that I'd have to think about it and got out of there, and upon reflection my decision was HELL NO. But while I was there I was actually considering it because I really liked the car. Never go by yourself! I went with my sister one time and the salesman was desperate to get her alone. They refused to answer my question about the sticker price of the car, and would only talk about monthly payment, which they kept trying to convince her she could afford to be higher. At the end, she was totally beaten down and I remember the look on her face as she basically said she was going to sign the contract even though she didn't feel good about it at all. At that point, I basically forced her to leave, and the salesman chased us out to the parking lot. Never again with a big dealership!
