I’ve never liked Katie Holmes, actually resented her because she was the Golden Child of Dawson’s Creek. I couldn’t understand why everyone was all salivating over her when Michelle was right there. I’m happy she and Suri escaped the cult’s clutches but she wasn’t a great actress. Oh, she definitely was not a great actress, but no worse than Kate Hudson, or Blake Lively, or any of the other actresses out there doing rom coms. If Katie had accepted her limitations and coasted on her looks and connections, she would have had a nice little career and THAT'S what she'd be remembered for. I feel like she was always a little 'off' though, though I might not be remembering that correctly.

Still are. LOL I doubt that Katie is jealous. I get this feeling that she feels perfectly fine in the place that she is. She can make random movies, people are nice to her, and she is happy with her daughter and life. She can live comfortably and was able to get out of a cult relationship. I'm sure she'd do everything possible to keep Tom out of their lives, too. Now. Now I would agree with that. But back when she married Tom? I have little doubt (as little as anyone can who actually doesn't know the people except via "Online Expert," lol) she saw BIG LEAGUE STARDOM in her future. Don't forgot, on Dawson's Creek, she was the chosen one--the one who got smoke blown up her ass by the showrunners/producers/writers. When the show ended and MW started getting all sorts of accolades, not to mention awards noms, she probably thought "hey, that's supposed to be me." I think that mindset is another reason she thought she won the Hollywood lottery when Tom came a'calling. I'm guessing she probably has wistful moments like anyone else, but is settled where she is. Back then was a very different time in her life, and I can totally see that being part of the draw Tom had- that and he was love-bombing her big-time, he was a huge A-List star and she had dreams of being there in her own right and not just as Mrs. Cruise. But that didn't happen, and at this point she's probably glad to be out and away with him even if that means her career flattened out somewhat. She can make her own friends and pick her own assistant and not worry about who's running to Miscavage.

I don't know how I missed this, but Katie's directorial debut (and she also wrote and produced it), "Alone Together" has a cover of "Blue Moon" sung by Suri Cruise! She sounds INCREDIBLE and I'm so impressed. Clips from the video might be spoilerish for the film, but if you'd still like to listen: Suri singing Blue Moon

She has such a clear tone. I agree with some of the commenters in the YouTube video that it would be delightful to hear her do some Christmas standards. Nothing makes me feel older when I see how grown up some of these celebrities' kids are!

Good for Katie and Suri! Even better let Suri's career gel on her own gumption.

I'm glad Suri could have a potential career in music if she wants one, I doubt Katie will be a stage mom.

Dang Suri has a great voice. Good for her.
The movie looks like it might be pretty good. I'll definitely check it out.

Suri sounds like what Katie would sound like if she could actually sing - god, remember when they tried to make that happen on Dawson’s Creek? And then later in the TomKat years when they tried to sell her as the triple threat actor/singer/dancer?

It might have been the last time I saw her perform ever. Then it was magazines in front of her face while power walking in New York.
