Kate Winslet would be an even better actress if she didn't have this tendency, at least as I see it, to look for "likable" traits in all her characters. I do agree with everything you said, but with this in particular. I thought this tendency of hers was awful in Revolutionary Road (haven't seen The Reader, though based on the book I don't think it would work for that role either). It's no secret on here that I adore Kate but I do have to agree with you on this. She really has had a tendency to do that in recent years and has become more apologetic which has gone into her performances. She wasn't always like this. Also, she shouldn't have won that Oscar for The Reader. Total apology from AMPAS for making her wait for so long.

I have nothing for respect for Brad Pitt. He's a terrific actor and brilliant at comedy. The fact that he's also handsome as fuck is a plus. He MADE "Burn After Reading". Oh totally, he was the best part of that movie. The dumb look on his face right before George Clooney blows his head off is priceless.

I'm very easily amused but, unlike everyone else on the planet, find the RiffTrax versions of movies LESS funny than the uncommented versions.

I think Mystery Science Theater is mildly funny, but not the greatest ad lib movie spoof show ever. Mad Movies with the LA Connection did it a lot better.

Are they ad lib, chiqui? Because the RiffTrax "Battlefield Earth" sounds terribly scripted. And by 'terribly' I mean both 'very' AND 'terrible'.

Is "Mad Movies" still around? I remember them with great fondness from the 80's. They were hysterical.

Now that I think about it, Mad Movies was not ad libbed, they had a script because they changed the premise of the movie all around (like turning Night of the Living Dead into a comedy about a guy trying to throw the perfect party.) I must have been thinking about a local Seattle comedy group that does comical movie dubbing in the summer, when films are shown outside.
AFAIK Mad Movies ran for just two years, but there is a VD of the Night of the Living Dead spoof that I mentioned earlier available from their website.
The problem I have with MST is that there's too much of the host and the robots, which aren't that interesting, and not enough of the spoof.

George Clooney is painfully overrated, both as an actor and a sex symbol. Every performance I've ever seen has been Clooney-schtick, as cliched and one dimensional as anything Pacino, De Niro or Nicholson have phoned in over the last two decades.
The only decent performance Naomi Watts has turned in...ever is in The Assassination of Richard Nixon, in which her flat persona actually worked. Because her character is also a shallow, bloodless automaton.
I like Sandra Bullock, but...Oscar? Really? For something that was just...nothing special? Worst Acadamy Award decision since Crash.
I feel cleansed now.

Even though the movie itself is overlong, Jack Black chews the scenery, and Adrien Brody is rather meh, I thought Naomi Watts was quite good in King Kong actually. (I haven't seen enough of her other movies to have an opinion about the rest of her movies.)

Watts has been really dull in a number of roles, perhaps most of them, but her audition scene in "Mulholland Drive" was a revelation.
