More a General Declaration than an unpopular opinion: I like goofy 80s movies, but I hate the archetype of the hoarse-voiced bratty little sibling.

I just FINALLY watched The Artist and... I didn't like it that much...? I saw it last July on a cruise ship. It was the last night of the cruise and half the people in the theater walked out which made me feel better because I really thought it sucked.

I really enjoyed The Artist. I'm not sure it was "best picture" good to me, but I found it clever and amusing. There were lots of little easter egg jokes in it. I did think the actor (can't remember his name, Jean something) deserved the Best Actor award. He conveyed so much without saying a word.

Hee, I like Seth Green in Can't buy me love That was just on! I had no idea that was him! That's what prompted me to write this post! I actually didn't mind Candace Cameron in Some Kind of Wonderful, but all the needlessly awful unfunny wiseacre younger siblings just rub me the wrong way. But, of course, I am the oldest in my family, so...

I just FINALLY watched The Artist and... I didn't like it that much...? To me, it felt like a rather brittle exercise in film making rather than an actual movie. I found myself ticking off film history references in my head as I watched (Greg Toland, Singing In the Rain, German Expressionism, Chaplin, Norma Shearer, ding, ding ding...) and it never gelled as a world onscreen. I never stopped seeing actors act. When a Jack Russell terrier is the most authentic character in your movie, you're in trouble. Worth seeing but I predict it will be studied more than it will be loved.

I thought Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was underwhelming. Not actively terrible, but a solid Meh. Elijah Wood and Kirsten Dunst were the only characters I really found memorable (so to speak) at all.
