Wait, people think he was bad in that movie? That's news to me. I thought he did a fine job with Kirk. Agreed. I thought Pine was awesome as Kirk. Playing such an iconic role could have easily have gone disastrous but he totally pulled it off, capturing the character's leadership qualities, charisma and cockiness. Actually, I think everyone in Star Trek '09 did a great job playing such famous characters. Pine as Kirk made me think of John Crichton. I can only hope that one day Farscape makes it to the big screen.

I enjoyed the rebooted Star Trek. I thought everyone was good, and the new actors kept in-character.

I have no interest in the Hobbit trilogy. None. Not even the hotness that is Richard Armitage can convince me to go. Agreed. I just have no interest in it at all. I agree. I really enjoyed the LOTR trilogy but this one does not interest me.

I'm watching the Baftas, where Stephen Fry is the main presenter. And he has made quite a few catty remarks about WB's treatment of the Hobbit "You'll see me in the Hobbit pt 9, Are we there yet?" or "...how much they can squeeze out of this little book." (paraphrasing here) Heee, I do love him for those remarks.

Just thought of this because I saw an ad for it on LMN (yeah yeah), but I kind of hated the movie Winter's Bone. I thought Jennifer Lawrence did a good job with the material, but I hated all of the people, I hated the plot, and just felt like the whole movie was pointless, hopeless and depressing. Everyone I knew had been going on and on about how amazing it was, but it just felt like a huge waste of time to me.

My UO is that Twilight isn't so bad when compared to the four movies that followed it. Sure it's cheesy but it also has a low-key charm that the sequels never achieve. Perhaps my real UO is that Catherine Hardwick brought more sincerity to the material and in turn the movie is watchable on that modest merit.

All the time I kept thinking how they wasted 2 hours in that movie to find a dead body and why it was so freaking important for the people who killed him to hide the body in the first place. They could have dumped it in the middle of nowhere without the police getting any leads as to who killed him.Instead they go in circles and are super secret about where the body is hidden without giving any explanation as to why that's important. I get the theme of survival in the face of such poverty and depression but they could have done a better job with the story.

Finally saw Zero Dark Thirty. My UO is that I didn't like Jessica Chastain in the role and thought she was miscast. She wasn't horrible or even bad I just didn't "buy it". I thought Jennifer Ehle did an amazing job as did other actors.
