Blue Jasmine. Loathe pretty much all Woody Allen movies and Woody Allen, but I watch this and Midnight in Paris way too much. Why did Jasmine not march down to Chanel or any of the other chi-chi stores in SF to get a job? In the beginning she admitted to selling shoes in NYC so she had worked retail. She was on a completely opposite coast and knew designer stuff. She could have made a killing in commissions.

I really like Burlesque. It is corny-cheesy goodness. I probably would at agree with most critiques of this movie, but I find it entertaining. đ

Is this unpopular? Now that A Quiet Place, a movie made by a white man, is getting good reviews, horror will be more seriously considered during Oscar season unlike Get Out, made by a black man. (This comes from reading articles where the writer would ask Oscar voters for their opinions about why they were voting for or against, and many stated that horror movies just arenât Oscar worthy.)

But Get Out *was* seriously considered for Oscars--nominated for several and it won for Best Screenplay. I do agree most horror movies aren't taken seriously, but should they be? I think the two mentioned here are heads above the vast majority.

But Get Out *was* seriously considered for Oscars--nominated for several and it won for Best Screenplay. I do agree most horror movies aren't taken seriously, but should they be? I think the two mentioned here are heads above the vast majority. A lot of voters did not think that kind of movie should win for Best Picture. Of course Get Out is above the vast majority of horror films. That was my point, that many voters did not want to vote for it and made it clear anonymously in this article that despite it being a deserving one (since it was heads above the vast majority of ALL FILMS that year), it wasnât seriously considered within the contenders as it was a horror movie. And my unpopular opinion is that now that A Quiet Place was made by a white man, the genre will be considered more seriously. If I wasnât being clear, #oscarssowhite still exists and it wasnât erased in one year just because there was a more diverse voting pool. Some voters made excuses for it because Get Out was made by a black man and it was clearly about racism in America.

I did not like the first Incredibles movie at all, and I have zero interest in seeing the second one. I donât understand why so many people say itâs their favorite Pixar movie. I thought it was boring as hell.

I feel you. My late mother was a librarian and back in the day she tried to get me to read a book about a young wizard named Harry. I couldn't get through the first book and she admitted it was not one of her favorites either. It is always so funny that everyone was excited to see all those kids reading these huge books. I wonder if anyone checked to see if those kids ever read any other books? I have never and have no interest in seeing any of the movies. The scenes I see are always so cheesy looking. MST3K, however, did a decent job spoofing some scenes. MST3K spoofs Harry Potter

I like the Harry Potter books, but the first one is one of the weakest. Half the book is about how horrible Harry's life with the Dursleys is, then even when he gets to Hogwarts there's all the part about sorting into houses, and the Sorting Hat singing, for cripes sake!
When my son was in middle school he wanted to read them but kept bouncing off the first book so I told him to skip it. "You know what happens in it, move on to the second where things get more exciting!" and then he loved them.

I recently saw FILMWORKER, a documentary about Stanley Kubrick's right hand man Leon Vitali, and it reminded me what a piece of shit Eyes Wide Shut is.
