I liked American Beauty, loved Six Feet Under, hate True Blood. I despise Dazed and Confused, though I love the soundtrack. Hate Blue Velvet too - despise all David Lynch, actually, which is strange because I like weirdness. I pretended to like Eraserhead when I was in junior high but (whisper) I didn't.

The only Lynch movies I like are The Elephant Man and The Straight Story, his "normal" movies. I saw Eraserhead in grad school and absolutely hated it. Ditto Blue Velvet. It's like he makes weird movies for the sake of making weird movies, there doesn't seem to be any meaning to any of them. The only redeeming part of Blue Velvet was the ridiculousness of Dennis Hopper's performance, he was clearly enjoying chewing the scenery and he made it slightly entertaining. Honestly, I have to seriously question Laura Dern's sanity for working with him so much.

Van Helsing was on TV the other day and I have to say, it's a total guilty pleasure. Cheesy to the core and of course, Hugh Jackman. As long as I simply go for the OTT ride of the movie, it's fun. And as long as I don't take Kate Beckinsale seriously, she too is bearable.

oh we love Van helsing in our home. It's cheesetastic. I always say that kate beckinsale's boobs should have had second billing. And love love love david wenham. "but you're a monk! You can't do that!" We used to live in Prague so we love trying to spot any scenes made there. richard roxburgh eats a lot of scenery and is divine. oh and the Lion King cloud ending? cheeserific.

So totally agree with the love for Daisy Wenham. "Actually, I'm still a friar." Heee! The ending is so so bad, how can one not laugh?

I know it's not exactly Citizen Kane, but I can't bring myself to hate Pearl Harbor. Even though it has some problems with historical accuracy, I also think it has some genuinely moving moments. Arguably Ben Affleck's best work, (although that's not saying much) and literally the only film, fiction or documentary, that has made me engage emotionally with that event.

I saw Van Helsing in the movie theater... twice. It was even funnier the second time. I REGRET NOTHING.

My Dad bought Pearl Harbor to watch for fun when it came out whatever Christmas year it was. May Mom and I were all open to watching it. My Dad fell asleep about 3/4 of the way in. Apparently, at what I have been told is the ending, my Mom said to me, "Are you into watching this?" I genuinely said, "No" and we turned it off. Hah. I still don't know how it "ended"...

Was Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle considered a critical or box office success? Because damn if it wasn't one of the worst movies I've ever seen. No wonder Demi Moore hasn't acted since then.

Nooo. That movie killed the franchise (or what was supposed to become a franchise). I think it was one of the biggest bombs of the year it came out.
And I remember everyone in media raving about Demi returning and how great she looked. Except her part sucked, because she can't act, and she looked horrible (to me) because she was Botoxed and plastic surgeried and dieted within an inch of her life.
