I loved Rooney's Salander. She did an excellent job.

I doubt a sequel is going to happen. The studio doesn't want to do it unless David Fincher directs, and he's got another movie he'd rather do. They also want the budget to be much lower than the original, which is unlikely if Fincher directs. And the script needs to be rewritten because nobody likes it.
There's also the issue of the second and third books not being as good as the first, which the readers know, and a lot of the readers didn't even go see the first one like they were supposed to.

I am judging the person who thought it was a good idea to say the movie was multi-racial in the same press release announcing they've cast three white people. The Tiger Lily character is pretty damn racist, but somehow I don't think whitewashing is the best solution here.

Get these people a Hersholt Humanitarian Award!!!! [/sarcasm]

Yup, sounds about right.
Why would she even say yes to this? It's not like she's hard up for work.

Wow. Three white people. What a diverse and multi-ethnic cast.
I guess I don't know about the re-imagining of the role, but it sounds like a total landmine for cultural appropriation, insensitivity, and other offensive things.

This sounds really bad all around, but I also think the new Annie trailer looks like a complete disaster, not the least of which is the awfulness of Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan. Is there anyone with an imagination in Hollywood?

Miss Hannigan is boozy, Cameron is boozy...I could see where they were going with it.
