Sir Paul's Carpool Karaoke actually made me cry. I loved every minute of it. If they sold it on DVD, I would buy it. (yes, I'm an old lady who still buys DVDs and CDs).

I would buy the DVD, but only if Peter Jackson/WETA Digital remove James Corden from it!

I would buy the DVD, but only if Peter Jackson/WETA Digital remove James Corden from it! Or digitally change him to Ringo.

Ok, I guess I do know the froggy chorus. I’ve never seen the video before.

“We All Stand Together”, a.k.a the Frog Chorus, is a bop to me. “Freedom” is a song that is unlistenable, and I will take “Wonderful Christmas Time” over that rancid patriotic sludge.

I will be so sad when Sir Paul goes. That is all.

Man, I thought I would be OK, but George’s death hit at the wrong time, in between 9/11 and my grandmother’s declining health, that fall was rough. At least Paul’s death won’t feel premature.

I will be bummed when either of the remaining Beatles go. Though I have to say, Ringo looks damn good. That’s from 2019, so he was probably 78-79, but in damn good shape for someone pushing 80. That’s an excellent cover of The Band’s “The Weight” by the way. I love the Playing for Change project.

I think he’s a vegetarian, too. Sting (who is now SEVENTY! I remember his 60th bday concert) has that same look. It probably helps that they both have wives to make them go to the doctor. And that’s a fantastic rendition of “The Weight.” The production is flawless. The two Jamaican women at the end are a revelation.

The footage of Ringo in ”Get Back” really increased my love for him, and I appreciate the love that others (Linda, Michael Lindsay-Hogg) in the documentary expressed for him. As for Paul, I have to really admit that the documentary has really changed my view of him. It’s really easy to cast him as the villain who contributed to the band’s break-up: his perfectionistic bossiness being irritating to everyone else, occasional poor communication skills, the condescending attitude towards George, etc. I really realize how much that he deeply cared for the band and want to keep them motivated despite them drifting apart slowly, wanting the songs to be top-notch because the Beatles couldn’t release subpar material at this point, and re-connecting with his childhood friends. Seeing him trying not to cry after saying “and then there were two” (with George leaving the band and John not showing up for practice) was revelatory for someone who has been reluctant to show negative emotions. As someone who has consumed quite a bit of Beatles material since 1995, I’m really shocked that I am learning some new things and putting certain people in different perspectives from this documentary. Better version?
