I was watching some behind-the-scenes stuff on the DVD and Lenny Kravitz was saying that Jennifer Lawrence always calls him Mr. Kravitz because she's friends with Zoe. I just think that's so adorable. I know, that's so sweet.

Anyone think this movie/actors will get Oscar noms?

I think it'll get some technical noms, like for special effects and sound and whatnot. But I highly doubt it'll get any acting or other major noms.

Yeah, technical and maybe a nom for Lawrence, but that's it. The Academy usually doesn't go for this kind of film.

I bought this for a gift for someone and they already had it. So I just kept it myself in case my teen changed her mind about seeing it. She did. I have read all the books but she has not. And she said it was difficult to figure out who certain people were or what was going on. (And she's not stupid. Honest.)

Hell, if I hadn't read the books, I don't think I would've been able to keep track of who was who. The shaky cam did no favors for "what the hell is going on," either. (And I'm 33. Leave me alone, dammit!)

Jennifer Laurence was great, but the shaky cam (I guess going for a documentary look) just was awful.

I hadn't read the books when I saw the movie and I didn't find it hard to follow. I thought it was awesome. Now I've read the books, so I realize many things were edited or left out, but I think they did a great job adapting it for the screen.

I thought it was a pretty true adaptation as well. And well cast. I also thought book 1 was the best written, so I'm interested to see how the next two films play out.

Having read the books back-to-back shortly before the movie came out, I was quite eager for the movie. I thought it was well done except for one major point - the actual hunger part.
My husband (who did not read the books), when I asked him, thought the entire time in the arena was about three days when it was actually a couple weeks. The entire premise of the 'games' is that some players will hide but hunger eventually forces them out, hence the name. And the the game makers manufacture problems that lead to them being hungry, creating desperation.
So the title of the movie (and the whole concept) was kind of lost on some people who hadn't read the books.
