I don't really care about her lying about her age, especially when she got a relatively late start in Hollywood. Women are often put out to pasture after a certain age, I totally understand why she would want to shave a few years off

I agree. Its very difficult for actresses to really break out once they are past their early 30s so I don't blame her at all if she is lying about her age.

In recent press for her Broadway debut journalists noted she refuses to disclose her age. So, I guess people are asking her about it and she's refusing to answer. Can't say I blame her for the reasons already mentioned. It really sucks though. A man can still make a breakthrough in Hollywood while in his 30's but not women. Then again, I think actors are allowed to just be actors while actresses are expected to be models in addition to being actresses.

Thats true. Actresses have to appear glamorous even if they really aren't.

Charlie Rose interview with Jessica. It's almost an hour long, but if you are a fan, I recommend it. One interesting thing that relates to the age discussion: she was living and auditioning in LA when she was accepted to Julliard and was advised by people in LA not to go because "when you graduate you'll be too old to be an actress in Hollywood." So, yeah, it's not a surprise she lies about her age.

Yeah, not surprised either. Once you're over thirty, that apparently makes you too old to be the leading lady to Hollywood's leading men. Watch Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone play love interests to Clooney, Cruise etc in the next few years ;-)

Would anyone even know she is 35 if Mandisa from American Idol didn't post Jessica's high school yearbook picture on Twitter, or is it something people would have caught wind of eventually? Seems like an accident anyone is even aware of this issue.

I think refusing to confirm her age made everyone curious, so somebody would have done the legwork to find the truth eventually. She's not the first celebrity to have her real age confirmed via yearbook - it happened to JLo too when she was shaving a year or two off her age.

I think we would have found out eventually, or people would have talked about it and it would be an open secret, sort of like Cathryn Zeta Jones. The internet makes it harder to erase the past.

She could end up with a career like Elizabeth Banks. I feel like I wasn't aware of her as an actress until she was in her 30s (I think she's 38'ish now?), but she seems to get cast in a good variety of projects and her career is thriving.
