I just saw it and liked it a lot, although it had some major pacing issues. The beginning and end were fantastic--especially the end--but the bulk of the film was sort of meandering, and it felt like there was too much going on with the plot to really absorb any of it.
The big surprise for me was how much I loved Anne Hathaway. Not that I don't like her; I usually do, I was just having trouble picturing her as Catwoman. But she nailed it. JGL was also a highlight, and of course the effects, big action scenes, and cinematography were top-notch.
Unpopular opinion: I also found it to be too grim. It was rough to sit through. I don't know if it was just that I couldn't stop thinking about Colorado, or if I'm getting older, or... I don't know. But I found myself uncomfortable and anxious during the more violent or terror-filled sequences. It was just really, really dark, and depicted terrorism and mass violence in a really frighteningly realistic way, to the point where I was not enjoying myself. I'll qualify this opinion by saying that I'm usually the first person in the theater for the most violent movies out there. It's not like I'm squeamish about it.
On the other hand, I don't think I can fault a film for being too real. So I'm not really making a judgment about the movie, just saying that I identify with other people who are saying the movie is almost too dark and grim. It's heavy.
The ending was really excellent. One of the better film endings in recent memory.

Well, when you're trying to tie up 40 subplots, a film tends to meander. I felt the same way.

I agree with what you're saying about the pacing, but I really enjoyed it. JGL was fantastic, and I was surprised by how much I liked Anne Hathaway. Hubby felt like it was about everybody BUT Batman, but he was OK with that. I liked the end a lot.

Yeah, Batman's one of the more characters so I didn't miss him when he was off doing push ups and feeling sorry for himself. I wasn't too impressed by Catwoman. For me, she and Batman were just two blank slates passing in the night.
The rest of the cast was awesome though. I agree with others about the pacing issues, but I didn't mind too much because I really didn't want the movie to end.

Now I really wish they'd make a Batman and Robin movie because I want to see more of Christian Bale and JGL together. And Anne Hathaway was FANTASTIC, which surprised me. The most pointless character for me was Marion Cotillard's. I thought the "twist" was cheesy and her death was like a soap opera scene. I hate that Bruce even slept with her, I wish that they hadn't even gone there and had just delved more into Bruce and Selina's relationship.

I agree. I think the ending totally made up for the messy middle even though the twists were painfully obvious. "Batman Begins" is my favorite of the trilogy and TDKR was more like that than TDK.
I'm in the minority because I didn't like Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. She did a good job with the physical acting but otherwise she seemed to be playacting rather than inhabiting the character, especially compared to the rest of the main cast. JGL and Michael Caine were especially good.
Absolutely. The Robin reveal was probably the only thing that truly surprised me at the end.

I'm horrible at spotting twists so most of them surprised me, aside from the one where Bruce didn't really die, I saw that one coming a mile away. Also I paid almost zero attention to any news of this movie so I didn't even know about the cameos. So seeing those guys so unexpectedly was awesome for me.

I saw it last night and liked it a lot. I thought the whole cast did a great job - I'm not a huge Anne Hathaway fan, but thought she really pulled it off. I feel like Christian Bale had more to do in this one and he was great. Loved Michael Caine and Gary Oldman - and of course JGL. Also a lot of HITGs in supporting roles - my favorite was William Devane as the president.
I don't think it was as dark and grim as The Dark Knight - this one had some lighter moments and the Joker was a scarier villain to me.
I saw it in IMAX and some of those action scenes were amazing to watch. A fitting end to the trilogy.

I loved it. Had me right from the opening scene. It was a great ending to the series and I loved seeing the other villains again. I wished we got to see how the Joker would've played out in the new Gotham.
I'm going to see it again.
