I did the same thing - that interview where Hanna totally misread the casual jokeyness of the interviewer, Hanna monologuing about how maybe she totally wants AIDS for the drama, all the "we're throwing you the nicest abortion party" jokes. So wrong and yet I laughed.
I honestly don't think that the nepotism thing is as huge a deal as some people are making it. Does anyone outside the NY art scene know who Lena Dunham's parents are? Being the daughter of the drummer for Bad Company isn't exactly the same thing as being Chet Haze.

Last night's episode was atrocious. Just badly written and badly acted.

I enjoyed this. At least it's not another episode of fucking Entourage. My husband absolutely was cracking up -- he had to hide his face in his hands at times laughing. And while I can't say I ever had THAT sexual experience, I certainly had my share of "WTF, what is this?" moments.

Well, maybe I'm a big old prude, but if this is the way girls behave these days (can you see me shaking my cane?) ... sheesh. It feels like the sex stuff is constantly thrown in to shock. At least I hope so. Is this how young girls are now?
And yes to whoever said the girls all look too much alike. Not only are there no girls of any color whatsoever, but they're all mousy brunettes. I guess Brian Williams' daughter is the prettiest, but she's boring.
And you know, I totally didn't even get that the sometimes British chick (is it just me or does her accent come and go?) had a miscarriage. I thought she just got her period. She's spaced out enough to not even know if she's really pregnant or not.
Yeah, I'm hanging by a thread and sort of hating them all.

I thought the second ep was much better than the first and a lot funnier (the beautifully-thrown abortion, the date rape joke at the job interview). Yeah some of the stuff is gross, but I don't think people would think twice about it if it were men making the jokes. (For instance, I've seen just as crude things said/joked about on Curb Your Enthusiasm or in Judd Apatow movies...)

I just watched "Tiny Furniture" and really liked it. I also thought the third episode of "Girls" was by far the funniest. She's a funny writer/director. And I think sex is often both humiliating and exhilarating at the same time, particularly when you're in your 20s and maybe you like someone more than they like you. I also think young women are particularly vulnerable to mistaking sex for affection, which this show displays really well.
This show is a media magnet for both praise and criticism, which is unfortunate because it's burying what's actually good about the show. I think Dunham has a talent for self-revelation (both physically and emotionally) and that's what's creating an media uproar.

I'm watching ep 3, and I think it's the last one. I can't do this shit anymore.

I just watched the third episode and thought it was great. If it keeps on this way, then I will officially be a fan of the show. I'm finally starting to warm up to the characters, especially Hannah. She really reminds me of one of my old friends who is simultaneously both exasperating and lovable. I loved the exchanges between Marnie and the artist, which was actually kind of hot; Jessa and the kids she was babysitting and their dad; Hannah and Shoshanna talking about Baggage, HPV, etc; and Hannah and her ex-boyfriend telling her he was gay and that her dad was probably gay. A lot of this show just rings true to me. It's sort of annoying for any female show to be compared to Sex and the City, but I do see it with this. Though it's a completely different set of characters and much different NYC setting, it's the same kind of relatable humor about sex and female friendships. Well said! I totally agree.

I'm watching ep 3, and I think it's the last one. I can't do this shit anymore. You lasted longer than me. I jumped ship about 15 minutes into the pilot episode.
