I liked this last episode.
Some highlights include: - Lorraine lamenting her own demise bc Hannah's decision is not a crowdpleaser, it's a mixed bag of emotions - Elijah taking this incredibly personally for some reason?! - I also want Shosh and Ray back together, but mostly bc I hate Marnie -- the reason why Shosh stopped being in love with Ray still holds true - the romanticization (kinda) of Adam and Hannah's relationship is kind of ... sweet? - the realization of Jessa that she's not all that special - I laughed because as much as I hate on this show, I recognize the parts of my life that ring true in various moments -- I watched this last night after going to a Physique 57 barre class in the morning UGH

I spent the whole episode obsessed with Hanna and Elijah's pronunciation of the name "Lorraine" as "Lurreen".

Bumping because I watched last night's episode and thought, "Is next week the finale or is there still one more episode before the finale?" And then I read that last night's episode WAS the finale.
So the character I was most interested in (Jessa) has no resolution to her storyline whatsoever. I guess Lena Dunham felt that making up with Hanna was all the resolution needed. As of last week, Jessa had dropped out of school and gone back to her bad relationship with Adam. Ok. No idea where Jessa is headed.
Shoshanna is my least favorite character, but I would at least liked to have known whether her quickie engagement was a huge mistake a la Jessa's marriage or whether it's a great relationship that just moved quickly.
Marnie, my other least favorite character, got a lecture on trying to seek her own happiness, but we have no idea whether she intends to take that advice or what seeking her own happiness means.
I read this little quote from Jenni Konner about how the penultimate episode where the girls argue is basically the end of their friendship because people don't stay friends with their college friends. That's stupid because a)Not necessarily and b) When friends drift apart they form new friendships. No new friendships on the horizon for any of these people, although that's sort of understandable given how unpleasant they all are.
Really lame series finale. And joke's on me because I stuck with this show to the end, and I've given up on far better shows.

I HATED the finale and most of the eps leading up to it. I get what they were going for, but just... no. You need to give your viewers, who have watched your show for years, at least some sort of resolution for these characters you have expected them to care about this whole time. And they ended it all with the two most universally disliked characters, Hannah and Marnie? Really? Granted, I do think Lena Dunham did a great job of developing Hannah as a character. But no Shosh, Jessa, Adam, Ray, Elijah... WTF. I agree, LAME as hell.

I kind of think the lack of resolution is because Lena Dunham is hoping to do a spin-off movie like Sex and the City. I spent the whole episode obsessed with Hanna and Elijah's pronunciation of the name "Lorraine" as "Lurreen". The character is Loreen, not Lorraine. I wound up learning that from imdb. They weren't pronouncing it "Loreen" either.
