By the way, how long has it been since any of us have worn lip color? Well over a year here... I just started again this past week--it felt nice. Another member of the Flaky Scalp Club here saying thanks for the rec. Nothing I've tried has helped so far.

By the way, how long has it been since any of us have worn lip color? Well over a year here... I wear it while I'm working at home. I had made a decision to up my lipstick game back at the beginning of 2020, and I bought several lovely new lipsticks, and...well, you all know what happened. After a couple of months, I decided to start wearing it just for me.

mrspickles, aren't you the one who recommended a particular kind of facial? I remember looking it up at the time and there was no one in the area that offered it. Enough time has passed that I'd like to look again but can't remember the name of the technique. I just had a big birthday and the weathered baseball look of my forehead is really bothering me and I'd like to try something to help that isn't heading in the plastic surgery/heavy procedure route.

I was wondering if I would need to do this when I wasn't going to be in the office for a few days.

I was wondering if I would need to do this when I wasn't going to be in the office for a few days. No! I usually go during lunch, but my place has a shower because it takes a lot to get everything cleaned off afterwards. So I go back to work bare faced. It does get very tight, so if you have claustrophobic tendencies you might want to make that clear. Also, after your consultation you should be able to purchase products for diy.

I’m back to talk about a product that surprised me by how well it works (and the Seen shampoo is still working, for my fellow angry-scalp sisters who are still curious about it. Usually my scalp starts to rebel at this point after introducing a new shampoo, especially when I’m stressed out and I have been super-stressed. But my scalp continues to be calm, happy, and itch-free. The only downside I’ve noticed is this week I definitely needed to use a clarifying shampoo because my hair started to feel weighed down and like a buildup was forming. But it’s no big deal if using a clarifying shampoo every couple weeks sorts things out). This time around the thing that is really impressing me is a skin serum. The last few years my skin has been prone to redness and just looking kinda irritated. Using stuff to repair the skin barrier has helped a lot, but some redness still comes through. So the serum is Deliverance by Dieux. It’s a tiny little start-up company and I’ve been following the CEO on Instagram. For months before the launch she kept talking about the serum, how great she thought it was, and posted before and after pics of stuff like when a puppy scratched her face, she put on the serum, and the scratch was no longer inflamed. Who knows if it is all bullshit because it’s her product she’s trying to launch so of course she’s going to talk about it like it’s a miracle. But I decided to give it a try anyway when it launched. And y’all…it does exactly what it says it does and it moves fast. This is the least red/irritated my face has been in a long time. I had a few recovering but still angry zits Aunt Flo had gifted me, and this stuff started to calm/fade them within the first couple days of use. It also makes your skin really soft. My skin just looks… better. I normally don’t look in the mirror when I’m just doing stuff like washing my hands, but my reflection keeps catching my eye because it is so noticeably different. So I always end up looking at the mirror all, “Huh. Look at that.” I’m pretty sure it is the cannabinoids that get the credit. I’ve used a serum by Garnier that has CBD that toned down the redness, but nothing like this serum does. So because they are a small company, they immediately sold out of the first batch. But if you are red-faced like me, it might be worth signing up for the wait list, because this stuff really works. ETA: More unsolicited and unpaid pushing of the Dieux serum. I had to run out on an errand today and didn’t have makeup on. Usually the blazing midday sun makes my skin look its roughest (like, it looks okay in the bathroom mirror and then I go to my car and catch a glimpse in the rear view mirror, and it’s like, “Yikes”), but today when I caught a glimpse of myself in the rear view mirror, I thought, “Wow, my skin actually looks…kinda good?” Like, much clearer and dewy AF for someone in her 40s. Only thing different lately in my routine is the Dieux serum.

I broke up with the person who used to cut my hair during Covid because she was a Covid denier. Which meant I had to go about finding someone new. Because time has lost all meaning during pandemic, suddenly I realized that at LEAST eight months had passed without a haircut. I found someone new through the Deva Curl stylist locator (recommended by someone here a while back...can't remember who, but thank you) and my appointment was today. My hair had gotten really long and I liked the length but I could tell a lot of that was damaged and I knew from experience that a lot more was going to have to come off than I wanted.
I liked the person and she did a good job. She did exactly what I asked her, but I didn't think through that the "shaping up" that I was asking her resulted in even more length coming off. So it is waaaay shorter than it was this morning. The more length that comes off the tighter it coils up and the effect is much shorter than it actually is. I know this but it's always so jarring to experience. But it's a good cut and the hair looks really healthy now. I just need to settle in for a re-grow period.
I do feel a bit like a sheep that just got sheared, though.

So I haven’t got my hair done by a pro since before covid, I “trimmed” my ends myself and painted the greying roots with those root touch up packs but have left the grey grow since October and I’m salt and pepper not the near white my feathery bits were suggesting I’m at that point that my reflection is spooking me but my hair is too light now at hairline to go brown again, I’m tempted to go blonde I mean I never have but think if I’m not completely ready embrace grey tho I sort of am it’s just a few others said I’m too young ( yay compliment sort of) If I’m ever going to have a chance to try blonde once in my life/ go a bit colours nuts with hair it’s now and if I have to spend proper money my hair I might as well go for something different right. Purple/ Shockong/Pink/Green/ Red/ Blue are also options
So my greecie guides in my first venture in here do I let it continue to go grey, go blonde for the fun of it ditto any other primary color or just resort back to my brown roots( pun intended)
Dye or not to dye!

For myself, @fitz, I'm not ready. I'll keep the medium brown going. What I am considering is a much shorter cut and I'm drawn to some of the fabulous shorter cuts from the 90's - Ally McBeal early on, Gwyneth from A Perfect Murder, Rene Russo in Thomas Crowne are all well known cuts that I keep pinning. Wondering if that would be too dated looking or not? Also, I'm pretty sure I don't have nearly enough hair for either the Gwyneth or Rene cuts, so I'm pretty well stuck with Ally no matter what my heart wants....
