It's a pretty good apology. It was a total jackass move, beginning to end, but still. As far as celebrity apologies go, this is a pretty good one.

Kinda takes some of the fun out of it now*. * Not that drunk driving is even remotely funny. I hate drunk drivers only slightly less than pedophiles Just her halo being tarnished and her snooty holier than thou 'tude boomeranging back on her ass.

I disagree. It was a bullshit apology. She was still trying to excuse herself because she was "scared" for her husband. Yes, because the police is usually especially harsh with rich white men. Whatever.

Ha! Very true, jag. I did get kind of eye-rolly with the whole "I'm ascared!" bit but overall, at least she did admit she was obnoxious. Maybe my celebrity-apology standards are too low. It's better than "I'm sorry if someone was offended blah blah..."

Um, wow! Of all the scandals I thought Reese might embroil herself in, this wasn't it. Drunk and yelling at a cop to lay off her man. Seriously hilarious (I can laugh now that nobody's been hurt by his decision to drive drunk).
Her apology is better than the standard "mistakes were made, sorry to those who got offended" type of apology, but that's not saying much.

I have to agree that using the "I was scared for my husband" excuse was bullshit. By all accounts the cop was respectful and Jim cooperated so what did she have to be scared about? Other than him getting arrested and her getting embarrassed by that. It's not as though the cop pulled him from the car and was beating on him. Give me a break.
He was drunk and so was she. She was also rude and obnoxious.
I did notice in one report I read when the cop was asking Jim questions he looked over to Reese to respond. Either because he was too drunk to answer or because as I always thought she wears the pants in that relationship.

As far as apologies go, that's not a bad one.
However.
Once you play the 'Do you know who I am?' card, your photograph is permanently bolted to the wall of photos of celebrity egocentric losers. I'm also a firm believer that alcohol loosens the inhibitions and allows the real personality to emerge. Not pretty.

Driving drunk= scumbag.
"Do you know who I am?"= tool.
Sounds like a match made in heaven.

She didn't show up for court, but the paps, media and spectators did. The case was continued.

Having been arrested, I can say it was very, very scary. And that the fear and the adrenaline (and in her case, probably the alcohol) can make you act out in ways you'd never predict, so I'm going to cut her slack on the 'do you know who I am' crap. Also, on a totally unrelated note, I'm happy she's gone brunette again.
