Rowan outsmarts the Fitz/Olivia/Jake braintrust (shocking, at this point, I know) and lives to bloviate another day.
I was wondering what happened to Andrew. When Fitz finds out about the scheming, he'll probably wish he had Sally back as VP. They could always cast her as something of a nutter to the public and she also wasn't sexing up Mellie.
Great parenting from both Huck and his ex. Where does she think the boy was at that time of night? And Huck, bringing Javy on a stakeout, because nothing inappropriate ever happens on those...

OK, so does anyone else think Daddy Pope is getting really sexist? Doing all the Command stuff to interfere in his daughter's love life? Not trusting her to chose her own boyfriends? Saying he needs to protect her and watch out for her? It's gross, and the audience is supposed to think he has a point, so I'm not sure what to think. Because the way it's playing out, it's as though we're supposed to see him as wise and experienced, that he's right that Olivia will be discarded. Which would run counter yo everything we've seen and make the protagonist a loser. Because say what you like about Shonda shows, but they don't endorse the viewpoint that women need daddy to take care of them.
Is anyone else seeing it?

Regarding Daddy Pope: after watching the episode earlier tonight, the boyfriend and I discussed how creepy it was that he was talking of her lovers as his competitors. He's sexist and paternalistic, literally, but this was a new dimension.

Someone on another board pointed out that it's not surprising that Olivia keeps being drawn to Fitz and his manipulation a considering she was raised but another lying, master manipulator. And jake is a cold blooded murderer, also just like Rowan. I think she should dump all three of them and take Abby and find another private island.
I am pleased that they dropped the Quinn/Huck "romance." That was gross.

I am so relieved that Jake didn't get shot, was totally expecting that at the end. I liked this episode. This season is so much better than the last one.

Whereas I was hoping he would get shot. And die. And I don't hate the character within the context of this silly show (and think he's adorably hot), but I like when shows shake things up by killing off long-time characters.

I thought Jake was finito too.
So is Andrew and Mama Pope all in it together? I'm so confused. That's like a complete 360 from his characterization last season. Are we meant to think that he thought Fitz was so incompetent (word) that he brought in terrorists to make sure he was impeached or something? He could have worked Mellie and sugared her up to get the more juicy past details honestly.
Also I don't even really care. This just seems to set up another Rowan saves the day plotline.
I have a sweet spot for Charlie, don't ask me why.

I'm way more interested in the White House intrigue like Mellie and Portia sleeping with the VP et al than I am anything with B613.
But yeah, I agree that this season is better than last.

I have been watching half-heartedly all season, which sucks, since I loved the first 30 min or so of Jake & Olivia on that island. I felt this had a lot of promise--first season I was hooked--but the show's taken such a hard turn into family dynamics... And I have almost zero interest in those. And whoever said Joe should pontificate so intensely all the effin' time... a little bit goes a looong way. After his first big speech I was scared sh*tless, now I just tune him out.

I was checking to see if Joke umm Jake had been killed off yet and I could try to watch again. I see he is not so my boycott of the show will continue. I am glad to hear the Huck/Finn romance is over. That, Jake and B whatever turned me off of the show.
