HUCK, NO!
That said, this show was OTT ridiculous last night. I hate the president, he's a lousy president, first of all, but he is so aggressive with Liv that it creeps me out. I thought she was about to get raped in the Oval Office on inauguration night for a second there. And her jumping back into the job of press secretary after one died from a gunshot wound was ridiculous. There's no deputy press secretary who could take over? Did Liv even have clearance to be in the WH? After an assassination attempt? I think they'd have the WH on a pretty tight lock down considering the evening's events.
I wished they'd unleashed Mellie on the VP. I want to see that confrontation. If Fitz is truly incapacitated and can't function as president, I hope Millie runs for office.
Stephen Collins as a psuedo Cronkite was silly. I think if they'd used a less recognizable actor that might have worked, but all I kept thinking when he was on screen was, "PRAY FOR HIM REV. CAMDEN!" I would have also accepted a Newsroom/Scandal crossover with Jeff Daniels as Will McAvoy doing the commentary.

I just caught onto this last week. I've gotta go back and marathon a bunch of eps to catch up! I love the actor playing Huck....really, the whole cast.

I suspected Huck as soon as they said he wasn't with the rest of the peeps at Pope & Assoc. I just don't understand as to why. When I finally saw him at the end, I still was like, "HOLY SHIT BALLS!"
This show is just all kinds of crazy and it was interesting to see what transpired once Fitz went into office.
As for Olivia taking on as Press Secretary, I'm guessing that she was given clearance immediately which resulted in her coming to the hospital and then going with Cy to the WH to handle the duties since the other Press Secretary was killed. But that VP chick is seriously F-ed up. I'm thinking she's in cahoots with that one dude from Texas that killed those people in California. He's a bad, bad dude.

I pretty much watch for Mellie and Huck. And Olivia's clothes. But those things are enough to keep he watching, so well done I guess.

Yeah, the clothes. I have never seen a woman wear white as often or as beautifully as Olivia Pope.

Fitz sure loves to show is how awed by he is by historical artifacts by desecrating them, doesn't he? Getting his grubby, oily fingers on the Constitution and doin' it in the Oval Office.
ETA: "artifacts" and "facts" are different things.

I would have also accepted a Newsroom/Scandal crossover with Jeff Daniels as Will McAvoy doing the commentary. I managed to get caught up on the season and while I liked the Huck reveal (and I'm assuming things aren't as they seem), I agree about the oval office scene. I'm not really into sacred cows or anything but it was just plain 'ol stupid and it took away from any steaminess inherent in the scene. What if Hal was the one who reviewed the tape and not Tom? Dumb. And, yeah, I didn't buy Olivia taking over as press secretary and not being challenged at all. D.C. is a place where everyone has huge ambitions and it would not have gone over any more smoothly than the VP getting herself inaugurated. I didn't mind seeing Rev. Camden as a psuedo-Cronkite. I found him believable enough as a middling news anchor dealing with a crisis. The only thing lacking was additional reporters helping to cover the unfolding events. It wouldn't be just him delivering the news in this day and age.

The press secretary who died was described as 32 years old and married, with two daughters, the oldest of which was seven. This implies that she had her first child at 25 and was likely married before that. Professional women in DC that are married and having kids in their early to mid-twenties, particularly in politics, are rare indeed.

Fitz sure loves to show is how awed by historical facts he is by desecrating them, doesn't he? Getting his grubby, oily fingers on the Constitution and doin' it in the Oval Office. For real! As soon as they touched the constitution, I wanted both Fitz and Olivia to die very painfully. I love Mellie and hate Fitz and Olivia.

While I like Fitz and Olivia, touching the Constitution and then doing it in the Oval Office made me uncomfortable. I do like Mellie a lot; that woman has balls of steel.
