On her death bed, Verna tells Olivia that confessing the voter-machine rigging scheme is a terrible idea, and then...confesses to Fitz and tells him that she's going to confess to David? Uh, is there an event or mindset change in the character I missed, or is this an inconsistency?

Poor David. He's the only character who can truly claim he wears the white hat (even James is covering for Cyrus now) and he's always getting the rug yanked out from under him at work.

Maybe Verna was just trying to keep Liv from telling Fitz so she herself could tell Fitz (and David) first, putting her spin on it (and twisting the knife).

The show was always about a fixer who would help sometimes guilty people get out of PR crises, if not crimes, with a dash of POTUS/mistress as the star couple and endgame (I don't know if Shonda has officially said that but it seems super obvious here). So for me, Scandal has always been a show where you have to check your morality at the door to enjoy it.

Agreed. I doubt I'd like any of these people in real life. Columbus Short just seems to be there to look cute (and he does!) and repeat the team's "fixer, white hat, suit of armor" mantras. I still think Mellie is gross (really, inducing your labor for sympathy?). David's the only character with real morals; I always feel bad when he gets screwed over again & again. I also really like Huck; he's clearly a sociopath but manages to be Olivia's closest confidante (which is telling about her own state of mind). When he got into bed with her, I was all "Awww, he's gonna offer to kill someone but look how much he cares!"

I have never figured out why Olivia would want a wuss like Fitz when Huck and Harrison are around. Fitz killed somebody to protect himself. Huck and Harrison would kill for Olivia.

The shower scenes were gross and scary. I feel sorry for Mellie because Fitz is a weak jerk. I used to like him, but now I think he's the worst combination of alpha male and depressive, addictive tendencies that I've seen depicted on TV. "I may not be able to control my erections around you, but we are done." - what a pig.

Love the Cpt. Ballard addition, and David Rosen continues to be my favorite human being on that show.

Loooved David's speech in the DA's office. WTF was a perfect name for this ep, 10 months? Overnight? And there's a new cutie pie and damn, the new girl is plunging knives and it was all just a wonderful chaotic nightmare.

As someone said, I think the fact that Fitz was shot in the head will be used as his "get out of jail free card" to excuse his reprehensible behavior.

He was an emotionally abusive asshole before he got shot. He treats Olivia like a $5 whore, then he hires/orders Jake to spy on Olivia because God forbid she move on, but Shonda wants me to buy Olivia and Fitz as this great love? I ain't that stupid.

He's so worried about who is in Olivia's bed he isn't even worried that there is a White House mole. They rigged an election to get a punk ass bitch elected. Good job!
