I cried too Atrieds.
Ladybug, do you think an eight year old boy would like this too? My four year old daughter and I are going and her brother is curious but very anti-princess.

Yes I think boys will like it too! The story seemed to have lots of action and adventure.

Awesome. I have two different friends with little girls with curly red hair and both of them are excited about taking them to see this.

Saw this last night.
It was absolutely gorgeous to look at. The scenery of Scotland at times looked more like photographs/live action movies rather than animation. And Merida's hair! I know nothing about computer animation, but I can only imagine how difficult that was to do. It might seem strange to make a big deal out of a character's hair, but it was so central to who she was as a person, and it really was hard to stop staring at it. Plus, as a curly haired person, it's nice to see a heroine with curly hair. Because Hollywood seems convinced straight hair = pretty, while curly hair = OMG straighten that mess.
Plot wise, it wasn't bad, but I couldn't help but feel it could have been better. I enjoyed it and would see it again, but the bar has been set really, really high for Pixar flicks with Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Up, and Ratatouille, so I was expecting a little more. There were plenty of funny moments, but they're more of a slapstick variety rather than clever humor (though there are a couple of those too, and they're mostly delivered at the hands of the magnificent Billy Connolly, who steals the show in this movie), and I didn't cry, and it's not that difficult to make me cry at movies. I was bawling after the first five minutes of Up.

Took lil' ladybug to see this yesterday and we loved it. I was crying at the end at the mother/daughter stuff! Kiddo liked the three little brothers, and I agree, they were hilarious. And I was really happy to see lots of boys at the movie. On the way out, one mom asked her son, who looked around 9-10, if he liked it and he enthusiastically said yes.

Same with us- we all loved it, I boohoo'd as I do with all Pixar, and the kids liked the triplets the most. The animation......Pixar is about as close as you get to magic, IMO.
