Tyler Perry??? Really? I thought Nick's lawyer was a White man who was married to a Black Barbara Walters/Oprah type talk show host. It's been over a year since I've read Gone Girl and I could be wrong. Am I wrong? That is what I thought. I don't have the book in front of me so maybe they didn't explicitly describe his lawyer as white but I thought she did. I always pictured Saul from Breaking Bad. Not that I am against casting a black actor for the role. I think color blind casting is great. But I can think of at least 10 great black actors who I would consider before Tyler Perry. The casting for this seems so random. I don't get it, the book was a huge hit and David Fincher is considered one of the best directors out there. I personally think he is overrated but I know I am in the minority. I know he has a reputation as being tough to work for but still. Could they not get better actors for this?

Isn't Fincher a tremendous pain with this seventy thousand takes? Maybe actors figure there are other directors in the awards bait game who are much less of a hassle to work with...

Surely you can do better than that! I've seen cats with better acting chops than TP. I am an hour from where they're shooting the movie. I do not have a car, otherwise I would be there at a casting call. I've seen some of the Amy Dunne missing posters that they're using. ETA...ok now they're in my town making this movie! Tyler Perry and Ben Affleck have been spotted. I'm not into fandom, but I'm a book nerd to the nth degree....I'm going to try to go see if I can catch a glimpse of Mr. Affleck. No, I'm not going to flirt with him! I promise!

So, in other Gillian Flynn adaptation casting news, Christina Hendricks and Drea De Matteo have both been been announced for Dark Places. Christina will be playing Patty Day and Drea will be adult Krissi Cates. Christina was originally supposed to play stripper Krissi, but they changed her role to Patty, which is interesting since those characters are SO different. I'm still not 100% behind Charlize Theron as Libby, not that I don't like Charlize, but she doesn't fit my mental picture of Libby at ALL. I think Chloe Moretz as the absolutely abhorrent Diondra and Nicholas Hoult as Lyle are great casting, though. If you check out the IMDb page, the full cast and crew list looks to be almost complete.

I think Charlize can totally nail Libby. I am surprised by the casting for Patty, though. They are going to have the seriously fug-ify Christina Hendricks for that role. I haven't seen Chloe Moretz in much, but she doesn't fit how I pictured Diondra at all.

Must re-read Dark Places, I don't quite remember the book.
They were shooting Gone Girl all around me. I even know a few people who are extra's in the movie. One lady I know her husband is Tyler Perry's stand in for the movie!

Gone Girl movie is going to have a completely different 3rd act. Interesting. I am not sure how I feel about this. I know a lot of people hated the ending but I thought it was fitting for the story. I am concerned that they will change it to either make it happier or more action packed. But Flynn herself is rewriting it so maybe it will be okay? Also I really hate that photo.
