I was sooo glad he didn't have to go there with Kimmy.

A couple of alternate theories for the SpyFamily: maybe Pastor Tim will not believe Paige, and promptly tell her parents she has severe psychological problems because she told him that they were spies. Paige would then be totally boxed in by her parents and their lies. Elizabeth would rub her hands together in glee! This is along the lines of what I think will happen. I don't think he will say she has severe psychological problems, I think he will just think she is going thru some phase or doing it for attention (which fits with the times). I'm also bored with Nina and wish they would write her off the show already. I don't even bother to read the translations on her scenes anymore. I didn't pick up on Phillip framing the hanging guy either. Martha finding out he is a killer is going to be a game changer for her. I'm sure the lines "I did this for you, for us" will be coming out of his mouth, but I think even she is going to have serious doubts. One thing I appreciate about this show is that is has the female lead committed to her career and the male lead the one struggling with his emotions, along with him showing a little more concern for the kids. I like that they didn't go with the stereotypes.

I've loved this season. There was a lot of quiet intensity and character development and some really good acting. I don't even mind the Nina scenes, because I think the actress does a really good job conveying the various emotions. Once again, she has a lack of autonomy, similar to the scientist, but as he said, they can have your body, but not your mind. She's coming to certain realizations and decisions. Subtle, but interesting to watch.

I read one theory somewhere that Pastor Tim is actually a Russian Spy. It certainly seems plausible but I can't imagine what that would do to Paige, if true.

I could almost see him as someone from the center secretly sent in to recruit Paige despite her parent's objections. It would make for a more interesting story than Philip and Elizabeth discovering the betrayal and having to off poor ol' Tim.

Is it confirmed she was talking to Pastor Tim? I mean of course that's the most logical... I just never know with this show, they could end up killing some bff instead. Clearly they overestimated the savvy of an American 14 yo with no context of war or struggle.

She was definitely talking to Pastor Tim. She asked for him by name.
I feel like Pastor Tim revealed as a Russian spy would be a "jump the shark" moment. I understand the tendency to suspect everyone of ulterior motives (and Pastor Tim may have them), but making him a spy is over the top.

Maybe Pastor Tim's wife has had it with having an emotionally needy teenage girl calling her husband at all hours and spending the night at their house. Even though they are both supposed to be taking care of their community, I can see her reliance on him being framed as an inappropriate crush as well.
And I have no inkling where the Philip/Mrs. Stan relationship is going, but I am interested to see what if anything happens there. Will she be a sounding board in some limited way, or a constant reminder of how he can never be honest?

The characters are lying to each other left and right but I feel that the storytellers have been honest with the audience about the motivations of the characters. I would be mad if they sucker punched us like that. I'm taking it at face value that Pastor Tim is who he says he is.
