That's an interesting question re: Russian women. I also wonder--in a crude, hateful way--if that was part of the reasoning behind the superior agent who raped Elizabeth's character. I can see the rationalization that sex is merely a means to an end.
I think Phillip is developing more mature, loving feelings toward E. (that she's responding too, somewhat more slowly). I think in the pilot he was like "I'm your husband!" And she had a knife in her hand like "Are you really?" She looked completely coldblooded. I think this would be a great role for an actress to play, dominant, ultra-focused, morally ambiguous...

I hope Keri Russell gets some awards love this upcoming season b/c she is really rocking this role. I feel like Katey Sagal is robbed every year just b/c she's on an F/X show. I hope Russell doesn't suffer the same fate.

I'll show her how we do it in the field." Poor Mrs. Stan. I want to smack him on her behalf. I just want to take her out for wine. At some point the FBI has to get the upper hand and start fucking with them or, at least stop going on wild goose chases, or looking like dogs chasing their tails. Re-watching all the episodes, I don't buy Stan telling the neighbors so much. He didn't survive being deep undercover and earn a promotion to the counter-intelligence unit by telling the neighbors so much about his job.

I agree and I think it's a glaring weakness of the series. When he gave them the intel on Reagan's shooting, it was completely unbelievable. I believe there are agents who are loose-lipped but Stan isn't that type.

I did kind of love Agent John-Boy's patronizing eye roll after his NO SEXISM speechlet.

He would have been dead within a week. I have a feeling either Nina or the old guy she's blowing won't be long for the world The writing for the FBI side of things is pretty bad.

There were several moments I had to watch through my fingers. So glad Stan & the FBI could save Nina, felt sorry for the old guy. Not as sorry as I felt for all of the other collateral damage from innocent bystanders -like the maid and her son or the security guard. At least the old guy was an actual player in this USSR vs US Cold War, and not a wrong place, wrong time victim.

I'm glad they indirectly addressed the fact that the Jennings kids are unsupervised . . . a lot. When Elizabeth and Philip are traipsing around DC at all hours of the day and night doing spy stuff I'm wondering, "who's watching their kids?" Whatever skills and abilities are needed to be a good spy, Paige obviously didn't inherit them. Girl was dumb to take a ride from that guy. Go, Henry! Looks like that kid inherited the bad ass gene. Keri Russell beating the shit out of Margo Martindale? I did think she might kill her. I had the fake kidnapping thing figured out pretty early but the beating truly shocked me. The other KGB guy looked like he was going to have an accident. I didn't feel any sympathy for the Rezident getting set up. I'm glad Nina survived. But Stan calling and giving cryptic messages was so obvious that I thought the Soviets might recognize it as a set up immediately. I guess he benefited from everyone being extremely paranoid.

Paige and Henry didn't even seem that surprised that no one came to pick them up, so it had obviously happened more than once. At their ages, I would have been crying if I had been left at the mall.
Elizabeth and Phillip didn't seem all that concerned about the whereabouts or well-being of their children after they were let go.
