It's like the tabloids starting with the 'Meghan's pregnant' story. Sooner it later it will happen and they can claim to have the scoop.

Yesterday, on my commute to work, I saw the Queen Mary 2 docking in Brooklyn. I started humming "Rule, Britannia!, Britannia rule the waves" to myself (in my head!). And I had a premonition that Philip had passed, so it was very eerie seeing the Twitter rumors at the top of this thread.
It was just freaky to see, and I thought I was going a bit bonkers!
Must be all the second hand marijuana smoke I've inhaled in NYC!

CNN says he walked in, so I'm guessing it's just testing.

He's going in so close to Christmas and is expected to spend a few days admitted, which makes me feel like if it wasn't serious then they would have planned it for after the holidays?

At that age, you can walk into a hospital with something minor like a UTI and never leave (happened to my Great Aunt), so any hospitalization is serious. But I'm sure he's getting very attentive care.

Lots of joking on twitter about stretchers lined up in NHS emergency room hallways, "I hope Philip brought a lot of coats to cushion the hallway floor", referring to the photos of the poor kid on the floor in the ER. He's at the King Edward Hospital in central London, a private facility for rich people who don't want, or need, to wait for anything, with a 4:1 nurse:patient ratio.

He's a 98 yr old man in the hospital at Christmas. He's a great grandfather, grandfather, father and husband and has served his country his entire life, doing more for charities and causes than any of the trolls on Twitter. Those "jokes" are disgusting.

I fail to see how some black humor about NHS underfunding is even the tiniest bit disrespectful of Philip. I am also not sure how much respect I think he deserves, but I recognize reasonable minds can differ on that point.
(And yes, I'm sure there some--maybe even many--people on twitter actively and inappropriately wishing death on him. I don't agree with that at ALL, but I am basing my opinion on the tweets I saw when I clicked the 'prince philip' hashtag.)
