I'm devastated! It's one of my favorites, I feel like I should protest by sending NBC ready-to-eat dinners or something. WTF else does NBC have going for it? I mean damn, TWO episodes in? I don't mean to be shouty but I'm pissed.

I hate to admit it but this season has just not been grabbing me. Everything with Jack and Bella made me cry but otherwise its been a bit of a snooze. I think it is just a little too abstract and dreamy for my taste. I am hoping it gets back on track with the Red Dragon story.
Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen were released from the contracts. Its not the end of Hannibal, they have both said they'd come back if it is picked up by someone else. I am sad it has been canceled too but I also think it may be the right time to end. They don't have the rights to Silence of the Lambs so everything after this season would be new territory. I am not sure how well Bryan Fuller would do without at least the bones of Thomas Harris to guide him.

So far, this season feels like a dream Hannibal is having. He's able to just kill people with abandon, show off his superior knowledge at his dream job, and shampoo Bedelia's hair every night. And when he missed his soulmate most, Will appeared to him in the shadows and then disappeared.
I have always appreciated the high art and strange beauty of the show, but I also love procedural cop dramas. I like that the previous seasons were somewhat tethered to earth by the killer-of-the-week. I miss Jimmy, Brian, and Beverly (RIP) working with Will to solve crimes.
ETA-- Jack beating the hell out of Hannibal was deeply satisfying.

Hannibal has been decompensating, and Will isn't much better. They can't live with each other but can't live without each other, and Will especially knows how twisted it is.
Loved Jack getting his beatdown on. Deeply satisfying.

I was on the verge of complaining over the dreaminess and then Jack started kicking ass all over the place & Will got himself thrown off a train. I think things will pick up now, for whatever reason TPTB wanted to drive home--perhaps unnecessarily--how Will & Hannibal have "worked out" their differences over the past year. I was just lamenting not seeing Scott Thompson at all; what a waste! Still looking forward to next week.

I'm amazed that they will rescue crap no one cares about, like The Killing, but they pass on this critically acclaimed series.
