I felt a strange vibe from Nicole Beharie all season long and I couldn't figure out what it was about. It was more than just Abbie's catacombs trauma. I guess now I know. They really should have just wrapped the show completely. They re-worked the show so unnecessarily and so early in its run that now it's, at best, uneven. It's time to let this one go. Now that you mention this it makes a lot of sense. I think that Nicole was just pissed off with the situation but was under contract and couldn't get out. Look forward to seeing her in the future. This show was silly, campy, superficial and in the proper hands could have been a heck of a lot of fun to watch.

Even if this gets renewed, I'm done. I haven't been this pissed at a finale since Lost. I don't blame Nicole Beharie for leaving, given how they screwed her character over in season 2, but I'm dying for someone to spill the tea on what went on behind the scenes.

I don't blame Nicole Beharie for leaving, given how they screwed her character over in season 2, but I'm dying for someone to spill the tea on what went on behind the scenes. Look to Orlando Jones for the tea. He's been hinting that racism was behind a lot of the changes from s1 to s2 and to his firing. Fox wanted to increase the white male demo so they sidelined Nicole and the rest of the black cast in s2. Katia Winter was also involved with the s2 producer. Take from that what you will. I wish Nicole and the cast the best. I truly feel for Tom Mison having to shoulder this show on his own. Fox needs to cancel it. All the goodwill from s1 is gone. They squandered it and finally killed it last night. This show was Abbie and Crane. To kill her off and think you can replace her with someone who has Abbie's spirit is the epitome of dumb. I'm sure they'll try it, but they'll be met with derision, anger, and so much shade. There's a reason people are calling it Shady Hollow right now.

You wouldn't have X-Files with just Mulder and no Scully. It's the mix that makes it worth watching.

This show was made from the chemistry of these two characters, hard to replace especially on a small screen.

All that talk from August in the in-between Life & Death with Abbie about a Phoenix, that was my first clue that Abbie was a total gonner and that they were just going to "revive" her in another character.
I'm pissed at this show in so many ways, but if Nicole wanted to leave (from what I've been reading) then what choice did they have? Sure, they could have written things a bit better...but with the show on the cusp of canceling I'm sure they wanted to make it look one part-series finale, one part season finale. I guess they succeeded.
But if the show does come back, I really don't want to have to deal with Bonnie Raitt's ex/constant police drama killer/FBI director dude that is part of Washington's "secret society for the supernatural" a la X-Files. He bugs and I just know it's going to be an annoying plot and storyline.
Man, I do love me some Crane, but this show is killing me!

Someone from that "other" site put it beautifully:

And yet they did for a while (that is, Scully with no Mulder) - and it suuuucked. You'd think Fox would've learned their lesson, but no.

Fox is ALWAYS fucking things up.
I get that they aren't the writers, but I know they have their hand in how things are being handled to some extent. I swear Fox comes up with some of the most shittiest ways to handle their popular, cult-following, well-written, and/or just all around awesome shows. (see: Fringe, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Tru Calling, Arrested Development).
