Well apparently not, because she’s using that napkin to wipe the dishes, clean up the pee on the bathroom floor, scrub the sink, then she rinses it out and lets it dry over the faucet. Then she bows her nose on it, cleans the litter box, and folds it nicely so her boys can reuse it as a table napkin.

I use cloth napkins and rags, but I also keep a roll of paper towels around, because every now and then I need them. Mom was also pro cloth napkins and rags, but when the puppy barfed on the rug, she used a paper towel to blot it up, because nobody wants to wash that off a rag. .

I liked Blossom, but I've always found Mayim insufferable and it started with her holier-than-thou preaching about attachment parenting. She always came across to me as someone determined to paint the picture of a perfect marriage and perfect family, and make sure that everyone knew that her way is the best way. I don't wish ill on anyone but I sort of thought it was karma when she got divorced.
I hadn't thought she had learned any lessons, but maybe shilling for paper towels is new evidence that in fact several of her tightly held principles have gone out the window.

There are certain things that I don't want to clean up with a rag. Barf and poop are high on the list. That said, we use rags 98% of the time. The absolute best I've found are surgical towels. They're absorbent and durable.

I hadn't thought she had learned any lessons, but maybe shilling for paper towels is new evidence that in fact several of her tightly held principles have gone out the window. I think she's hinted that she has anxiety about money, especially after being divorced and being the primary breadwinner for a split household (her husband stays home with their children and homeschools them). That is an understandable fear, though not necessarily justified on paper as she made hundreds of thousands of dollars per episode for The Big Bang Theory for several years, has a new sitcom that will likely be renewed, has a podcast on Spotify, has published multiple books, has a monetized youtube channel and has a steady stream of endorsements. Her side hustles were all built on her brand as a scientist and crunchy earth mother. She's so proud of all of her many emphatic opinions about the correct way to live, that it's extra obvious and hypocritical when she's willing to totally reverse any number of those beliefs in exchange for a quick buck.

This is reminding me of when I registered for a wooden high chair with a wooden tray when I was pregnant, and people told me to get a plastic one because it was "more hygienic." I said, "The baby will be eating food from the tray, which I can wash in the sink afterwards. It's not like I will be cutting up raw chicken on it."
I tend to like the characters Mayim plays, but as a person, she bugs me. I agree it's a lot of the perfect attachment parenting she preached.

She can't dress up or present her physical self in an attractive way, because that's how women get raped. Remember her op/ed after the Weinstein story broke? We must all dress sensibly so we don't entice the men who have no self-control. Orthodox Jewish bullshit. She is living proof that you can be academically intelligent and socially brainless. I really despise this woman. She offends me on so many levels.

I feel like she has low self esteem about her looks, and that's part of it. I remember that op-ed piece and it struck me as really weird that she started off with the (paraphrased) statement along the lines of, "obviously I'm not considered an attractive woman, but...." which I don't think is true at all (she may not be conventionally beautiful or pretty, but she is an attractive enough woman when she is well groomed and put together), but obviously that's the way she sees herself. Which I'm sure has contributed to her warped view on certain things.

Which I'm sure has contributed to her warped view on certain things. Totally agree. Those comments she made were boneheaded, but seemed to stem from a very deep place of insecurity. Like she's had to spend her life building up her "other" qualities because she isn't the hot chick and growing up in Hollywood, where there's an overabundance of beautiful people and an overemphasis on looks, that's going to loom large. And that it's led her to try to find the advantages and somehow she wound up at "well, at least the Harvey Weinsteins of the world aren't attacking me." It was dumb and offensive to all the victims of those predators, but I could follow the twisted path she took to get there.

Even though she apologized, I think Mayim still thought she was right about the whole Harvey Weinstein thing.
Weinstein had access to a lot of beautiful actresses, but he also attacked regular employees and other women who were not overtly sexy. One of Harvey's female assistants was hired, in part, because the woman hiring her thought Harvey wouldn't find her attractive and would leave her alone. She was plain, didn't wear makeup, dressed very conservatively, had no sexual experience and was not flirtatious at all. She would go to Harvey's overly heated room wearing a parka and double layers of clothing, including tights, in the hopes that he wouldn't be able to get through the layers - all of the "self protective" behavior that Mayim congratulated herself for. And Harvey still tried to rape her.
