I disagree. If anything, I think it was a mistake to name two hosts. Multiple hosts always feels like a temporary stunt. People watch that type of show for soothing regularity, to know exactly what they are going to get when they watch. People loved Trebek because he did the job reliably and was around for a long, long, long time. Yes. And I think the best hosts are the ones who don't tend to make it about themselves. Think Pat Sajak with Wheel of Fortune--another long-time host who is good at what he does and has been a great face for the show, but doesn't generate a lot of press. I think Jeopardy was hoping this new guy would fit that kind of mold. Not very well known and not someone who will upstage the contestants or the show itself, but who will provide consistency and familiarity. I also don't think Trebek is irreplaceable. You could have said the same about Bob Barker with The Price is Right, but that show is still chugging along just fine with Drew Carey. I'm not a Mayim Bialik fan because she's too much of a controversial character herself. I feel like they probably threw her in the mix so they could claim to have made a diversity hire. Hope she doesn't become the full time host now.

I also don't think Trebek is irreplaceable. Me, either. There were some of us old farts who might have said that Art Fleming was irreplaceable; we were wrong.

Ryan Reynolds wins the internet today with this tweet: Ryan Reynolds is such a social media master. It’s consistently impressive. I have a deep abiding love for LeVar Burton because Reading Rainbow was the absolute bomb for me growing up. Like, I can’t even express how much I adored that show other than to say that when the Aricebo freakin’ Observatory collapsed last year, I headed right to YouTube to see if I could find the Reading Rainbow episode where LeVar visited it because every episode that aired during my childhood is deeply imprinted in my memory. And I’m a pretty big “ST: TNG” nerd, too. So I did watch his guest host run on Jeopardy! and I acknowledge some of the critics saying that he seemed a bit nervous and less of a natural than some others, but I think he would have settled in over the long term. I didn’t see Mayim host. I did like her on “The Big Bang Theory” when I would watch it, although I’ve not seen all the episodes. That’s about all I can say about her. So my vote is still with LeVar.

I bumped up the Jeopardy thread so Mayim’s thread doesn’t get over-hijacked
