It was just announced that Mike Richards is stepping down as host because on top of the stuff already revealed, podcasts of him saying extremely sexist crap have surfaced. I’m just saying, this probably wouldn’t be a problem with LeVar. So until the next hire, they are down to just one kinda problematic person. This was really preventable. All they had to do was the most basic of background searches. I wonder if Mayim will move up to permanent host and if they will recast her role? They would be better off if they selected a roster of people. It's not great to have the program so associated with one person. If they had four people they could rotate through, they could easily have their white man and then a bunch of other different faces. Let Ken Jennings, Levar Burton, Mayim Bialik, and another person do it. If Mayim wants to film a Big Bang reunion, then Ken steps in. If Ken is sick, Levar takes over. If Levar goes on a book tour, then person number four is available. I think it would be more enjoyable for the hosts. In my non-entertainment career, I have always hated being the ONLY person who could do my job and HAVING to be at work when I was under the weather or missing a family vacation.

I never heard of Mike Richards. Not sure who did the background check but if Twitter can find it they really should. I bet one wasn’t done.

Multiple hosts always feels like a temporary stunt. People watch that type of show for soothing regularity, to know exactly what they are going to get when they watch. People loved Trebek because he did the job reliably and was around for a long, long, long time. Jeopardy was probably hoping for the same thing with the new guy, they just chose wrong.

It would probably have been up to him to kick off a background check, and obviously he wasn’t going to ask anyone to go poking around in his past. It seems he basically just handed the job to himself or the powers that be at Jeopardy! allowed him to hand the job to himself.

My feeling, after Alex's death, was that they should have pulled the plug on the show.
He's irreplaceable.

I’m just saying, this probably wouldn’t be a problem with LeVar. So until the next hire, they are down to just one kinda problematic person. Not only would LeVar be better because he's got a cleaner background, but he'd be able to handle criticism better. I think some of the problem with Mike Richards is that he went from obscurity to spotlight very fast - and since people were raving about him at the time he thought that was what it was all about. When he started facing criticism, he got really uncomfortable with it. Seasoned and experienced celebrities know that criticism comes with the job.

I think LeVar should have gotten it, too. He's used to being on camera and I enjoyed his guest hosting very much.

Could've continued on with his comfortable life and success but he stepped out into the really big spotlight and all was revealed. He probably wishes someone had stopped him.
