I thought Mike Richards was bad enough. But they doubled down and picked another host who I cannot stand. Way to go.

Jeopardy is something I used to watch 30 years ago when I was staying with my grandparents and they accidentally left the TV on after Wheel of Fortune, so I'm a little puzzled as to why everybody suddenly cares so much about this show. It's a show my mom's been watching since it came on the air. I don't get it either, but I'm still puzzled as to why game shows from the 70's and 80's are being brought back. Are there no original ideas left? What's next an adult version of Double Dare on one of the main networks?

I am both amused and confused by all this as well.
I'm with Ginger in that the last time I probably watch an entire episode, I was a young lass at my granny's house (RIP), although she was much more into Wheel of Fortune.
Were all the guest hosts really trying out? I mean, Aaron Rodgers certainly wasn't leaving the NFL to host a game show. Although after that press conference he gave a couple of weeks ago, maybe he would have. lol

It's weird because the media was keeping careful track of which hosts got the best ratings and Mayim's ratings were at the very bottom. Jeopardy is something I used to watch 30 years ago when I was staying with my grandparents and they accidentally left the TV on after Wheel of Fortune, so I'm a little puzzled as to why everybody suddenly cares so much about this show. I think it's more to do with Alex Trebek than the show. A worthy predecessor - is there any? Not really. But people were curious, and now I would say neither choice comes close.

I love Jeopardy, but I don't think the host really matters - I like the questions. Having said that, I would have preferred someone else!

Teen Wol was addicted to the reruns on Netflix so much that now she’s addicted to playing Trivial Pursuit. I love it, too, but not enough to overcome my true dislike of Mayim. You’d think with all the backpedaling she’s had to do for her offensive opinions that she’d be better at it.

Levar Burton got totally screwed by having his week of hosting fall during the Olympics so in cities where Jeopardy airs on an NBC station, viewers could not even see him.

Levar Burton got totally screwed by having his week of hosting fall during the Olympics so in cities where Jeopardy airs on an NBC station, viewers could not even see him. Unfortunately it wouldn’t made a difference in vying for the Jeopardy hosting gig. It was a sham hosting trial. The executive producer already gave himself the job. However Levar Burton has a dynamite hosting reel to show at interviews. Will the exec producer insist he’s the right man for the job if there’s a Jeopardy boycott? Will he ride it out if it means canceling the long running show because of viewer decline? What an asshole….

Eh. I cannot with all of the revisionist history and performative outrage over who is the host of Jeopardy. When Richards hosted folks were raving about him and many people at that time considered him a frontrunner if not the frontrunner. I would also like to take some time to point out that the folks at Jeopardy never sold this as an American Idol/Dancing with the Stars type of competition where the viewers would have a say about the final outcome. They had a series of rotating hosts, some that were likely in consideration for the gig, and some that were likely not: Dr. Oz, Aaron Rodgers, Katie Couric, etc etc.
All of the people I know who religiously watch the show, liked Richards, and don't seem to have a problem with the pick. It's mostly folks on Twitter throwing hissy fits and being outraged, OUTRAGED, I tell you. That being said, in my humble opinion the best guest hosts were Robin Roberts and Ken Jennings - I would have loved to see one of them land the gig (but again, I don't know if Roberts would have even wanted it - she's busy) and I really wanted to like LeVar but he just wasn't that good.
