I'm guessing she didn't win one?

She did not, Laura Dern won that category.
It just cracks me up that she claims not to watch TV and yet she's perfectly fine acting in a TV show and showing up to the biggest TV related awards show when she's nominated for said award.

I've never seen anything she's been in, but from everything I've seen about her she seems like a smug brat.

Bumping this up so the roast can commence. For those who didn't hear what she said on the red carpet at the Emmys: Let me repeat, she said this at the Emmys. We get it: you're a crunchy hipster who makes her own toothpaste and is like "cable? what's that?" This falls into my category of people who aren't aware that no one gives a rat's ass about whatever extremism they have that they love to brag about. Oh, wow, you wake up at 2AM every day to make sure you get in your half marathon before then going to work at the non-profit organization that works for the protection of pigmy pigs in west-central India? Good for you, but I still don't care.

So, she doesn't watch the tv that she hasn't had since she moved out? And she doesn't have time to watch tv (which you can multitask along with) but she definitely has time to read, which is much more difficult to multitask with.
So. Tedious. And I say this as a person who is training for a half marathon, works with underprivileged students and plan to start making my own toothpaste.

I knew a woman who was all, "I don't have a TV" /smugface, and would then proceed to tell me about all the shows she was streaming. As if somehow watching CSI on an Apple product made it Not TV and High-falutin. Topic? I can imagine Shailene having a similar conversation.

She's young, so I give her a semi-pass for the tediousness, which is more forgivable in a 20-something than someone older (oh, hi, Gwyneth!). But she's just not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Good for her for being passionate about some things (she did get arrested protesting in North Dakota), but she needs to learn that not watching TV doesn't make you a better person. It's great that you're a reader, but it is possible to both read books and watch TV. Absolutely NO ONE is impressed when you go on about how you don't watch TV. No one walks away from that conversation going, "Wow, she's deep!" They walk away thinking, "What, does she want a cookie or something?"

I don't care one way or another about the actress, but I don't watch TV either. When Mr. Cholo is here (he travels for work a lot) we'll stream a movie and watch together. But on my own, I don't follow shows. I like to keep my time open at home and I like the peace and quiet. Once you get in the habit of it, it's a hard one to break.

Anyone remember that book a few years back called Stuff White People Like? It's a tongue-in-cheek guide to white racial identity that lists things that white people like and why they like these things. Anyhoo, one of the things listed in the book is that white people like to say "they don't own a TV" and they like this because they like to tell other people "they don't own a TV." This is where my head went with Shailene's declaration.

I have never had somebody tell me they "don't own a TV" or "don't watch TV" without it sounding snooty and superior. Same as when people tell me they don't eat a certain type of food "because it's too greasy" and grimace.
Most people watch TV and occasionally eat foods that are less-than-healthful, so odds are when you say that to somebody, you are telling them they are gluttonous sloths.
