Shailene Diann Woodley (born November 15, 1991) is an American actress. She portrayed Amy Juergens in the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2008–2013) and co-starred alongside George Clooney in the 2011 film The Descendants. In 2014, Woodley starred as Beatrice "Tris" Prior in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's novel Divergent, and will play Hazel Grace Lancaster in The Fault in Our Stars, based on the novel of the same name by John Green.

For her performance in The Descendants, she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture. In the film The Spectacular Now, she won the Special Jury Award for Acting at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Doesn't she also do the "make your own toothpaste, soap, eschew deoderent, hairy pits" hippy kind of thing as well?

(As a former hippy, I get it) but it all smacks of a very young girl saying very naive things. I just sigh and walk away. At some point she will look back on her "know it all philosophy of the young" days and shake her own head at her guilelessness.

Let's just hope she never feeds her kid from her chewed up mastications, breast feeds until they are in the third grade, or advocates for natural immunity to polio being a healthier choice to immunization.

Yeah. She also exposes her genitals to the sun as a way to get her vitamin D! Her quotes a pretty hilarious/ridiculous, and I tend to be more natural myself so I have a high tolerance for that stuff.

Her comments about feminism are immature and ignorant. She's a young woman who has lived a sheltered, privileged life. Educate yourself, Shailene. About something other than vegan food and new age Mumbo jumbo.
