I am enjoying this season of Big Brother so much more without TWOP. I haven't read one recap, or live feed report.
I don't really like PTV.

I will say that the Days of Our Lives forums are an absolute hoot. They really blew up on PTV; I love it.

There is a poster named ganesh on The Leftovers forum who posts lengthy screeds about how disappointed they are by the show. And if that person uses the phrase world-building one more time, I will throw things. I get it, the show is frustrating - so stop watching. And the kicker is that the most recent episode was a flashback that explained a lot of things, which most posters seem to agree with. But not ganesh, more dissertations about how no answers were provided and nothing in the plot moves forward. Again, just stop watching if you hate it that much.

I always say that there are two types of film critics: the ones who get upset because no movie will ever be the perfect one in their head (Village Voice film critics), and the ones who can find the good in a flick to make it work for them as best they can (Ebert, Maltin). This could probably be said of armchair critics, too. TWoP and PTV probably fall in the former category.

Very good point!
I would also say Siskel was one of the former as well, which is what made the pairing of Siskel & Ebert so perfect. I loved it when they would bicker.
On topic, I've been going to ptv more often the past few days and some of the forums are doing well. But yeah, waaaay too many shows to scroll through.

I also agree even if I think Leonard Maltin doesn't work quite as hard to see the good as he gets (and takes) credit for.
PTV just feels bloated and artificial to me. "Real" journalism didn't work out for them so they've gone back for the paycheck of easy snark.

I think the Soap boards and The Bachelor/ette/BiP boards are the best. Everyone is genuinely snarking and respectful. Yay!

I enjoyed the post finale discussion on the True Blood boards. I think it's a nice balance of disappointment at what the show became and genuine grief that the show is over, with a few posts from folks who enjoyed the ending sprinkled here and there.

I haven't watched this season of Couples' Therapy, but the latest recap is on the home page, and this one paragraph made me laugh:
"Treach pursues a lizard in the yard with what appears to be a salad spinner. He tells Cicely he's going to catch a couple of "Geico lizards" so that when she's not talking to him, he can talk to them instead. It's not clear whether Treach thinks the actual species is called a geico. Moving on."
Most of the recap is pretty funny, actually, even if I don't quite know who these people are. Juan Pablo and the woman he ended up with are both a pair of loons, which I could have guessed.

Yeah, they should see what the traffic is for a show before creating all those individual threads for episodes and characters. What's wrong with a general gabbery thread? If it gets girthy, they can subdivide it later. You can't even start a show thread there. You have to request it from the mods, which is fine, it they want at least three sub-thread names before starting. I wanted to see if anyone watches Sensitive Skin (apparently no one here does) but it's not worthy of multiple threads. And they have to be fun and snarky. Someone requested a thread for Being Mary Jane. The thread and sub thread titles were pretty straight forward. Mod requested snark and color be added to them. Poster replied, "OK let me put on my creative cap". After a few days of nothing being added. Mod posts a "snarky" "funny" reply that the thread is not likely, because the poster had added nothing more.
