Thought the pilot was very strong, though I'm bracing myself for the momentum to fizzle out, all the characters to become annoying and the murder mystery to become too convoluted. Shonda's not actually writing it so maybe it won't fall into the patterns of her other shows.
Annalise is so ruthless and has no shame and Viola is clearly having a ball playing her. Loved how she put her side piece in a compromising position on the witness stand and turned on the crocodile tears as she rubbed up on Dean Thomas Wes.
She picked five students yet only four were trying to cover up the murder, hmmm...

Okay, I hope this show is on demand, because my Facebook feed has absolutely exploded with people talking about it. I had never heard of it until tonight. I can't wait to watch and see what all the hype is about!

I almost fell off the sofa when I saw who the body was. OMG! I loved this. Every single bit of it.
Annalise does not play. I mean...damn.
I liked the 4 who were covering up the murder and hoped the 5th was the victim.

I saw this show weeks ago, and have been dying to talk about it with someone. I've seen the first 3 episodes -- and so far, so good. I love, love, love Viola! (And I too, almost fell out of my seat when I saw the victim reveal!)
I definitely think it's an episode you need to watch twice.

Thanks for this. I wasn't going to watch it because of her and now I can at least give it a try and get in on the fun.

At first it was reminding me too much of Legally Blonde, with Viola in the Victor Garber role. Then Wes walked in on Annalise and her lover and I was all, "hello!" That got me paying attention. By the end I gasped out loud at the victim reveal. I can't wait to see where this goes. A lot of hints dropped and suspicious looks exchanged. I'm totally on board.

The previews hadn't done much for me, but I was too lazy to find the remote after "Scandal." I am totally in now.

The show actually had MORE viewers than Scandal. ABC is very happy, and it's nice to see really hard work pay off. I want good things for this show and for Viola.I think she's truly talented enough that even if the material is lackluster, the show will be fine. (and I'm not saying the show is lackluster.... I just think showrunners have an ace in the hole w/ Viola and her talent). Wes walking in on Annalise and her lover made me sit up, as did the last-second reveal of the victim. I did not see that coming! My only quibble- I can't really buy 1st year law students being the bulk of a famed attorney's student crew. If they were grad students, it would be more believable to me. Talented cast. Pretty cast. Fierce lead= guilty pleasure on Thursday nights!

I loved it. I am in awe of Shonda's success but am happy she's not writing this show. Hopefully it won't turn into a mess like Scandal sea on 3.
Viola is tremendous and she deserves to have this show run for ten years and win a boatload of Emmys.
