So I tried to watch How to Get Away with Murder this weekend and I didn't get past the first two minutes. Alfred Enoch is giving me C.Thomas Howell-in-Soul-Man realness and I CAN'T. That (and what seemed like bad acting from the young cast) put me off the show completely. Dumbest reason ever to quit a show! Not cool, mementomori. It's all I can see, now.

She is? I have been watching and haven't seen her and she isn't listed in the credits anywhere. Who did she play?

Only two eps in and this show is already shaping up to be my favorite new show for the Fall!
I called the daughter being the real murderer but I figured it was because she hated her stepmom and figured her dad wouldn't be convicted. Right about the murderer and wrong about motive! I shudder to think how he'll punish Eloise. Dude is a Grade A creeper.
At first I thought Annalise was suspicious of Sam's relationship Lila because of her own guilty conscience. But girlfriend has a good reason to wonder about him. His body language certainly suggests he's lying about the affair. My guess is he's lying about the affair but didn't kill Lila. That's why he erased the emails. The argument tipped off Sam off Annalise is suspicious about this relationship with her so he decided to erase evidence in case Annalise snooped. Dumb move since Annalise already has snooped and now thinks he killed her.
I have no clue what is going on as far as Sam's murder though. Obviously, Rebecca is involved in some way but I'm sure she killed Sam. Michaela's comment about this being Rebecca's fault could just simply mean Rebecca set in motion events that led to Sam's death. Whatever her involvement it can't be good since Wes is clearly hellbent in protecting her. The next question is why are the others involved? It's obvious they don't like Rebecca. Why would they risk their careers and lives for someone they don't like? There has to be more to it.
Michaela is the Hermione Granger of the group. And it's pretty obvious Bonnie has a secret or two as well.

I have to admit I laughed when Annelise's bearded associate called two of the students Prom Queen and Doucheface. On a shallow note, I liked Davis' eyeshadow during the acquittal court session.
I'm enjoying the nuttiness of the show, but like many Shonda Rhimes programs, they tend to go off the rails after a while. They always start with just enough outlandishness but then start veering into WTF territory. Rhimes is to the 2000s and 2010s what David E. Kelley was to the 1990s.

Well, Shonda Rimes is not the show runner or even the creator of the show. She is an exec producer but it sounds like it's more a vanity title than anything else. Then again, used to work at Grey's Anatomy so it's possible the show will go off the rails at some point. But you take that risk with any show.

I don't love this show but I'm intrigued enough to keep watching. I was confused by Annalise's characterization and Viola Davis's acting choices the first episode. Now, I feel that they are related to the "long game". I'm not sure if she actually engineered any of the murders but it feels like she's pulling a con 90% of the time. That scene with the side piece/police officer didn't seem legit.

I love it! Some of the younger cast is a little annoying, but Viola is spellbinding. When she asked her boyfriend (Nate?) to check her husband's alibi, she blew me away. I have never watched a Shonda Rimes show before, but I am so happy to see a beautiful, powerful woman in total command of a show.
On a shallow note, Viola's wardrobe is incredible.

Her clothes are great, but it hate her hair. It almost looks plastic, it's so stiff and smooth. I also find it amusing that she walks like a rodeo cowboy, arms out and a loping gait. I first noticed it in The Help, but I thought it was intentional to the character, like she was tired or sore after a long day's work or something. But apparently it's her actual walk.
