And tetanus is freakin' awful. Most people in the industrialized world don't realize that (again, due to vaccines), but it is disease I wouldn't wish on anyone. I, of course, have no idea what ME's views on vaccines are, but I think it is possible that since she's decided she's a health expert who seems to frequently reject the mainstream, she's anti-vaccine. But I also think it is possible that since she's in a race to be the World's Worst Person, she's just trying to be a pain in Tammy's ass. Melissa, if you can't be arsed to support your children financially, then you forfeit all other parental rights in my book. You can't just come charging back into their lives just because they're finally involved in something you deem interesting enough to warrant your attention. Just shove your head back up your ass and continue to let Tammy raise the children. I haven't kept track of her legal proceedings but did her ex-wife get child support/alimony money finally?

I think they did finally reach a settlement, but that doesn't change my opinion of her much since she didn't want to pay in the first place.

My eldest brother died from tetanus, I want go into details about it but it wasn't quick, a child shouldn't die such a horrendous death if it can be easily avoided.

She's a dick. Plain and simple.
*sigh* I used to love "Yes I Am".

She's a dick. Plain and simple. *sigh* I used to love "Yes I Am". Yeah, sadly ME's songs on the radio are now as hard to listen to as FUBAR's. You know, how FUBAR singing 'PYT' will never EVER be the same? *shudder* Now it's like whenever I hear Melissa singing: 'I'm the only one who'll walk across the fire for youuuuuu' it's impossible not to mentally fill in '...Except I won't pay you child support!'

This is an interesting conversation. I hope it can continue since it's pretty civil.
Some of these people need to realize that if EVERYONE stopped vaccinating we'd be in deep deep shit. It's easy for a few to proclaim that they won't do it ... while the rest of the world does and most of these diseases are still a thing of the past. But the tide is turning and they are beginning to return at a frightening rate. Melissa strikes me as the type who seems to think she's a special character - she can get away with saying no, and her kids won't get sick because their classmates are vaccinated.
Anyway, as always it's a situation where people need to weigh their options. I'm a proponent of the old schedule of vaccines from the 80's (I think that's what Jenny McCarthy was supporting at one point). I can't believe that people are even turning against MMR, DTaP and polio.
I guess this one gives the most information about it -
Not necessary? OY

Is it normal among divorced parents for the custodial parent to have sole decision making power regarding health? To keep it on-topic, is Tammy acting within reasonable bounds?

The actress Gene Tierney had a daughter born deaf, partially blind and retarded due to her exposure to rubella during pregnancy. She didn't find out until after the child's birth that a woman with rubella had sneaked out of quarantine to see her at the Hollywood Canteen. I wonder how she would feel about immunizations if she were alive today.

I've heard one parent being allowed to make health decisions after a divorce. Sure judges prefer parents to make these decisions together but sometimes that's just not possible due to logistics (one parent may live on the other side of the country and only sees the children every few months) or because the other parent's judgment is questionable (see Tiger Woods). Though, as another poster has stated, I feel Melissa forfeited legal decisions for the kids the moment she tried to avoid paying child support for them. It's also rumored she has very little to do with the children she had with Julie Cypher.
