I did a search and nothing came up. If there was a previous thread on her, I apologize.
Anyway, my reason for posting on her was her performance on tonight's ReactNow on Mtv, etc. Her song was the only one that drove me to tears. In case if someone didn't watch it, she sang acapella. The song was from the perspective of a poor mother that goes up with her son to an attic because they have no money. She basically asks the president why he took so long, etc. In the end, it talks about how a group of angels comes to take her home on a chariot. The song was called "Four Days".
Anyway, discuss.

When she came out all bald and rockin' at the Grammys, I seriously got choked up, and I say this as someone who's kind of meh about her in general.
It was so good that I don't even care if the most cynical, it-was-a-publicity-stunt take on the matter is true. It just rocked.

She's one of the best live performers I've ever seen. What a powerful voice!
I love that Grammy performance, too. Few should be allowed to tackle Janis, but M'liss and Joss nailed it.

Back in the day I had a huge crush on her. Oops. But I've always loved her voice. Totally heart-on-the-sleeve.

I love her as well. When she writes, "Alright, I get it. 51% of you think that I am a second class citizen," that just breaks my heart.

You know what, I wish all the California Gay/Lesbian folk would withhold their taxes in protest. The assistant PAstor of my church was married to her partner in California this summer. It breaks my heart that she and her loved one are no longer legal.

It breaks my heart that she and her loved one are no longer legal. I believe the legal status of same sex marriages performed during the summer window is still up in the air, so they might not be grandfathered in. There's already a lot of legal challenges going on. The two senior rabbis at my synagogue are both gay - yay for gay clergy!
