It seems like I've heard of cases where someone had a beef with paying taxes for whatever reason but put that money in escrow to show that he/she was prepared to do so once the beef was resolved and not just skipping out on paying taxes -- perhaps Melissa and others like her who want to force the issue can do this?

I totally agree with her. Just once, I'd like for someone to explain to me what is wrong with gays getting married and NOT use the Bible or God or religion. They can't. If they could, I think that they would have long before now, no better way to stir up the religious right than by quoting scripture.

I think ultimately anti-gay marriage laws will be found nationally unconstitutional, since they're based solely on Judeo-Christian/Biblical laws.

The closest thing I've heard, as I've said ten million times before, is "I don't believe in homosexuality." Well, hi, it's not Santa Claus, and just because YOU don't "believe" in it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So many people are still under the false and misguided impression that homosexuality is a choice. And... yeah. Perhaps if a number of high-profile and wealthy people get together on this "fine, then, no taxes!" thing, it'd work. After all, they can't arrest EVERYONE, can they?

The marriage laws were found to contravene our constitution and that there was no secular argument against it so, voila! And guess what? Canada has not collapsed into a sordid heap nor have legions of heterosexual couples uncoupled as a result. It would seem that gay marriage isn't the big threat to traditional, hetersexual marriage that some would have you beleive. The biggest threat to my marriage is what is has always been; his inability to find and use the laundry hamper.

And you'd think the fact that the countries where gay marriage is legal haven't collapsed or started WWIII would be an obvious sign that it's okay. Hopefully now that the Democrats have the White House AND Congress AND the next Supreme Court nominees we can get this over with once and for all.
