The day after Melissa Etheridge filed to formally end her partnership with Tammy Lynn Michaels, her partner of nine years is striking back.

Michaels, 35, who has two children with the singer, took to her blog Saturday to express her shock and dismay over Etheridge's filing.

In a post titled "blindsiding," Michaels writes, "gentle waves / no noise for awhile / or maybe gentle voices and / SMACK!!!!!!!!!!!! / FILE FOR DIVORCE!!!!!! / even though we both promised / agreed / handshook / pinkyswore / no filing until after the tour / in the fall."

But it seems her qualms about the end of the relationship extend beyond just the timing.

"Her broken promises / told to me by/headlines / i'm raising the kids / doing what i can / second set of yours," Michaels writes.

In Etheridge's filing, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and asked that the court not award Michaels financial support. Michaels gave birth to the couple's son Miller and daughter Johnnie in 2006.

No support? I read somewhere else that Tammy claims she has no money, and has had to borrow in order to feed the kids.

The twitter venting is annoying, though. Lot of relationships end, and you just have to move on.

I guess so, but man... to try and deny spousal support to someone who quit their career to take care of your house and who is still raising your kids when you're out touring... bad form, Melissa.

Oh absolutely. But that whole "we pinkswore!" stuff is just dumb. It sounds like she did not see it coming. But now that it did, get a good lawyer and fight it that way.

Is it possible Melissa doesn't want to pay support because she's hoping to later have Tammy declared an unfit mother which could allow Melissa to have sole custody of the kids? She already has to put up with one ex because of the kids and perhaps she just doesn't want to do that again. Yeah, it's cold and certainly not putting the kids best interests first but sometimes adults convince themselves what they want is what is best for the kids.

I used to like Melissa but between this and telling the world what an awesome person Elisabeth Hasselbeck is my like is waning.

I know she has at least two other kids. But why did she mention it in this way.

If a male celeb pulled this shit - trying to get out of paying his wife support when she gave up her career (whether she was a bartender or an actress) to stay home and take care of the children - most people would think he was slime. I like Melissa's music, but I am really beginning to think she is slime.

Agreed. A commenter on DListed said that if Melissa was a man, we'd be calling her a douchebag, and I think that's about right. I wouldn't be surprised if she's already seeing another woman, probably someone younger.
