Amy Schumer is the star of her own show on Comedy Central. Her first headlining film, "Trainwreck", will be hitting theaters in July. I really like her comedy. Her voice is distinctly female, and her rawness doesn't feel like she's trying to "keep up with the boys."

Every time I have seen her interviewed, I have laughed my ass off. She's hilarious.

This is how you do it, Sarah Silverman.

I am so overly in love with her right now. She is so "real" but of course in a comedic way. I hope she continues to succeed. I remember a few months ago Jezebel had her ads on the side of the site and I was all annoyed that they were shoving her on me, but now that I've watched her, I am kinda glad they did.

I think she is hilarious but I feel like she may walk the line between people loving her and hating her. If she is too saturated in the media, I think she is going to fizzle out fast. I don't know why I feel that way.

I first heard of her when she got press for getting the right to say "pussy" on network television without it getting bleeped. I watched the sketch involved, laughed my ass off, and have been following her ever since. I wish her success--it seems like she's on fire right now.

This is how you do it, Sarah Silverman. I didn't want to go there because I think, in a lot of ways, Amy benefits from building on her predecessors, in a way that doesn't necessarily apply to male comedians. There was a skit on the most recent episode in which Tina Fey and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss guest-starred and Amy told them they were her idols. In a very general way, you could compare a lot of aspects of all of their careers, and I feel like in a lot of ways, it would represent where a progressive idea of womanhood was at in a particular moment. I would say I am a bigger Amy fan than I ever was a Sarah fan, but I did like quite a bit of Sarah's comedy. I also think Amy benefits from the fact that we live in a connected age and challenging ideas about appearance, weight, sexual double standards, etc is more of a norm, so she's able to use that as a jumping off point in her comedy as opposed to starting from square one trying to get her audience there. One of my most favorite skits.

I hadn't really paid attention to her until recently, and now I wish I had found her sooner! She's hilarious (and wrong, so wrong "You make Kate Middleton look like a mental patient shitting herself in a rusty wheelchair" is brilliant), very smart, and I really love her show.
That said, I don't think that Amy Schumer could have had this voice without the comics before her. Many still are "shocked" that women are hilarious, and can enjoy a good raunchy joke. The more women we have pushing back on this notion, while being genuinely funny, a little shocking, and maybe making a point, isn't a bad thing.

I love the 1D-esque parody she did, Girl, You Don't Need Make-Up. I heard she was approached to take over for Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, and as interesting as that might have been, I think I prefer her sticking with her own show where she can be as juvenile and gross as she wants, even while injecting it with frequently biting social commentary. I do really like the interview segments she does on her show though, so it might've been fun seeing her bring that randomness to serious interview subjects.

Oh "Girl You Don't Need Make-up" is gold! I guess Amy has also ran into the "I prefer the natural look! You know like Kim Kardashian!" men. Amy, rightly, received lots of praise for the Friday Night Lights parody which brilliantly skewered rape culture. Though it was also a bit depressing since it is a bit too true to life. So yeah, keep reaching for the bigger glass of wine Amy! I'm also a fan of this rather hilarious Aaron Sorkin parody.
