I'm watching ep. 4 now and have no effin clue what's happening. Although with M. Night it could be aliens and 1960s scientists.
Eta: And folks that are no longer in the credits are still listed on imdb? Or is this a Game of Thrones/Sean Bean trend? I don't know but I love Matt Dillon (and even Terrence Howard was less aggravating with a lil weight & hair on him) so I'll keep it up for a bit...

Last night was more WTF than it was confusing. Or I'm growing used to the level of confusion. I'm not sure. What I do know is that Ethan and Nurse Ratched are gearing up for one hell of an epic battle.

Melissa Leo is extremely convincing as a psychopath. She creeps me out badly.

And the poor son being hypnotized into forgetting ...
I don't see why they would let someone so obviously fighting against the system become part of the system as sheriff, but I assume it will all make sense at some point. Isn't the big reveal supposed to happen next week? (I thought there was supposed to be some sort of explanation at the halfway point.) I hope so, because while it is interesting, not knowing why this is happening is starting to wear thin. Death of the week of a slightly more famous actor can only go so far.

So "The Greatest Love of All" was right.... Whoa. That was a surprise,

Why do all futures have to be dystopian? Can't things be nice? Just once? I'm still convinced it's a test; the science guy said that "this is the farthest anyone has made it"; why is he tracking that?
I'm back to being confused and paranoid. (Mostly confused)

Meh. I'm a bit annoyed about only letting the children know. After all, obviously some of the adults know. And there's the implication that all of the females there, particularly the children, are essentially chosen for breeding. And why even save people to live in such a rigid town in the future when that's the only safe place? Just let people die out! Why would you want to live like that?
On the other hand, the secret service in "ye olden days" seemed to be in on it to some degree, so I'm thinking it is some contemporary experiment and not as teacher described things.

I agree, and is this society supposed to be the new "Aryan nation?" I didn't see too many people who weren't white.

So, if this is set waaaaay into the future, then what is the deal with all the weird rules in the town? Wouldn't things move a lot more smoothly if everyone was told "Hey, it's the future, things suck on the outside, we're all that's left of humanity, so let's work together and and try to make a go of it, okay?" That would be far more successful than everyone living in constant fear with fake smiles plastered on their faces. This "only tell the kids the truth" is too weird, especially since not telling the adults hasn't exactly been working out that well. Are they only telling the kids because they are gullible enough to swallow the story?
And if everything else is gone, where the hell are they getting things like ice cream and helicopter fuel? Where are the cows that make the milk/cream for the ice cream? Did the unfrozen people just happen to stumble upon a huge store of ice cream somewhere? Who is making their clothes and where is the material coming from?
So many giant holes here. I hope there is another twist to cover them.

Not feeling this. Who would trust a bunch of kids with an important secret, esp. teenagers? I call BS.
