From M. Night Shyamalan, who thrilled us with The Sixth Sense and has slowly deflated with each passing movie ( Lady in the Water might be my longest 2 hours in a movie theater), comes a 10 episode mini-series about a a mysterious town in Idaho. Based on the novel by Blake Crouch, it tells the tale of an FBI Agent arriving in town to search for two missing FBI Agents, and nothing is what it seemed. They just had M. Night on EW Radio on Sirius XM, and he said that we do find out the twist in episode 5, so we don't have to wait to find out about allergies to water. Good cast, too: Matt Dillon, Terence Howard, Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino, Toby Jones, Hope Davis, and Juliette Lewis. Debuting tonight on FOX. I thought this was out already & wound up watching a leaked version. I liked it! I think it can work with a limited run.

Oh! I've actually seen ads for this on tv here. I figured it was an old series that didn't catch on, since Terence Howard is in it (and I knew he was doing Empire). I may give this a watch.

This was a fun watch. It's not the most original premise, and we already have a bunch of guesses as to what's really going on, but in the preview it looked like there might actually be some surprises coming. I like the consistency of the townspeoples' personalities with the Stepford vibe. They are all downlow bitches who will bring it front and center if you challenge them too much on their fake reality.

This is much better than I was hoping! It was creepy and the suspense was high throughout the entire episode.

I actually found the "How do you leave?" "You don't" exchange really creepy, even after seeing it in previews. I think it's new-ish in that they're upfront with the conceit; things are not what they seem--better go with it or there will be consequences and oh yeah, your dead colleague's right here.
Waiting to see relationship between Dillon & Lewis!
